About us
The Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is a world leader in helping people with physical disabilities get involved - and stay involved - in sports. CAF provides grants for adaptive equipment and training & competition expenses, hosts adaptive sports clinics, and an welcomes all to this inclusive community. CAF believes that participation in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence, and enhances quality of life. Since 1994, more than $178 million has been raised and more than 48,000 individual grants awarded across 105 different sports. Athletes with physical disabilities served in all 50 US states and Puerto Rico and 70 international countries, impacting another 60,000 individuals annually through our outreach.

CAF has been honored to present some amazing grants alongside Toyota North America - our Official Mobility Sponsor! Maximus Wong recently received an RGK Grand Slam Tennis Wheelchair so he can qualify for the US Open Junior Wheelchair Division, and Daijonee Vanderveer received a GRIT Freedom Wheelchair to help her get back out on the trails!

Össur + CAF hosted our recent Running and Mobility clinic in Atlanta at Georgia Tech with Össur + elite faculty Bob Gailey (PhD, PT), including appearances by Össur + CAF Ambassadors April Holmes and Marko Cheseto. A surprise grant for an Össur Flex Run was given to 53-year-old Shane Daniel, a healthcare worker from Gainesville, GA, thanks to Jason Auyer from Alliance O&P. Thanks to Colleen Coulter of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and representatives from So Everybody Can Move Georgia for their support of this event. In partnership with United States Adaptive Golf Alliance (USAGA) and ELEVATE Golf Academy, CAF recently hosted a free Adaptive Golf Coaching Clinic at Metropolitan Golf Links + a day of adaptive golf at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. Skilled coaches helped athletes improve their golf techniques including driving, short game, and putting, and taught how to make the golf course a more inclusive environment!
