Last week, the NC Department of Health and Human Services' Division of Aging and Adult Services presented Cabarrus County's Active Living and Parks Deparment (ALPs) with the 2023 Ernest B. Messer Award. The award recognizes communities that have excelled in addressing the needs of their older citizens. Congratulations, ALPs on your recognition! ⭐ A few of the ALPs team, along with friends and park patrons, starred in a special proclamation video for #ParkandRecreationMonth (July). Check it out!

CabCo's future leaders! 👏⭐ It was recently County Government Day for the 2024 Class of the Cabarrus County Career and Leadership Institute! The program, now in its third year, offers a select group of local high school students a unique way to learn about the people and functions that support the growing County. Former Cabarrus County Commissioner Diane Honeycutt worked with members of the steering committee to develop the seven-week program. Things will wrap up in August with a graduation ceremony. #cabarruscounty #cabco

It's #WorldElderAbuseAwarenessDay 💜 We kicked off the day with our annual Walk to End Elder Abuse and breakfast at the Concord Senior Center. The event featured guest speakers and valuable information on preventing elder abuse, neglect and financial exploitation. An estimated 5 million, or 1 in 10, older Americans experience elder abuse, neglect or exploitation. Working together, we can make a difference and protect the older adults in our community.
