BTCF’s next President will be driven by an authentic passion for the Foundation's mission, with a particular dedication to expanding equity and quality of life in the rural communities of the tri-state region. They will bring strategic vision and agility, management aptitude, investment and financial know-how, and a demonstrated ability to lead and animate an organization that has experienced tremendous growth. They will enhance BTCF’s role as a local and regional leader and sharpen its long-term programmatic and financial direction to be responsive to community and donor priorities. Results- and relationship-oriented, the President will connect with and galvanize various stakeholders, cultivate current and new donors, build strategic partnerships, and lead community engagements. Reporting to and working closely with the board, the President will ensure that BTCF is fiscally and administratively sound and that programs, the organizational structure, and investment activities are effectively managed. The President will be attuned to staff success and well-being, drive diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities, and nurture a productive, creative, positive, and results-oriented culture. “Kataly believes that organizations which are led by people from the communities they serve are ultimately able to manage resources and risk more effectively and has invested 100% of the REF’s portfolio in BIPOC-led organizations. As the primary focus for this role will be relationship management, the ideal candidate will be comfortable working with diverse populations in a transparent way and will center the needs of our community.” Integrated Capital Officer, Restorative Economies Fund | Kataly Foundation

“The Program Officer (PO), Capacity Building is a thoughtful and engaged contributor to the Kataly team, focused on the Foundation’s mission to promote social justice and racial equity in communities most impacted by injustice. Thanks Russ Finkelstein! 👏👏👏 “This platform is a vetted hub of resources made by and for changemakers launching social impact initiatives across the U.S. World-changing ideas can emerge from leaders anywhere, but the support needed to get from vision to impact is not widely accessible. SPARK was created to bridge this gap. The curated resources you’ll find here offer accessible, practical, and community-oriented supports that meet you where you're at and shorten your learning curve as you launch and grow social change initiatives and organizations.”
Attention changemakers, social entrepreneurs (& those who support them) there is a new FREE tool to help entrepreneurs in the U.S. navigate the first five years of building social impact initiatives. SPARK: the Social Purpose Action Resource Kit is a vetted hub of resources created by and for early-stage founders. https://lnkd.in/gHjC6XG9 It’s been a pleasure advising on this project, led by the Accelerating Social Change Leadership team at Panorama Global alongside Katie Latham Thalia Trinidad Lisbet Portman Marcus Thompson Karen Sumie Runde Lauren Mitchell Sandi Drucker Wright. “Reporting to the President and leading a high-caliber staff of four, the Director will serve as a team and organizational leader implementing the Foundation’s updated and cutting-edge social impact approach in the Foundation’s two main programmatic areas: 1) an integrated approach to its work in the Environment; and 2) a new initiative directing investments that contribute to a more thriving, vibrant San Francisco. The Director will also serve as a principal advisor and trusted thought partner to the President and board, lead organization-wide program communications, oversee learning and evaluation, and design and support effective board meetings. This is a largely internal role, driving the effectiveness of the program as a whole to achieve program goals and impact.” Program Director | Pisces Foundation

"Reparations needs more than just money Oftentimes, when people think of reparations, they believe that it starts and ends with money. However, the movement for reparations focuses both on finances and on creating a national culture where true acknowledgment and redress can lead to a better future for everyone. As Aria Florant says, “As much as it is about our past, it has to be about our future.” She goes on to explain that a one-time payment may close the racial wealth disparities for a limited time; however, if the systemic and infrastructural systems that created the gap are not fixed, it will only re-open. 'We view culture change as critical to actually making the policy change durable. It’s not just about the destination; it’s also about the culture change that we want to see in the journey along the way.' — Aria Florant" Insights from “Philanthropy’s Role in Reparations and Building a Culture of Racial Repair”

ICYMI - @Philanthropy New York's 45th Annual Meeting featured a conversation that reminded me that if we can't imagine a different future, we've already lost. Manuela Arciniegas, Executive Director, Communities for Just Schools Fund Yamani Yansà Hernandez, CEO, Groundswell Fund Alli Jernow, Vice President of Social Justice Program, Arcus Foundation Saida Agostini-Bostic (Moderator), CEO, Funders for LGBTQ Issues Power At The Core: What are the ways foundations can move beyond traditional models of philanthropy by fostering cross-sector collaboration and building community power? Power shapes our leadership inside and outside of our institutions. In this panel, we will unpack formal and informal power structures that characterize our work at the individual, institutional, and ecosystem levels. We will delve into the ways that funders are re-evaluating their strategy to support the consolidation of power with communities, rethinking practices to shift power into the hands of their nonprofit partners, and re-imagining the power dynamic internally within their organizations to empower staff to have a greater impact within their individual spheres of influence.
