Burke’s summer student Health Experience Learning Program (HELP) caters to college students who display interest in physical, occupational, speech/language, or recreation therapy. This 10-week program allows students with previous experience through coursework, volunteering/observation, or as a paid therapy aide to gain experience in the field and work alongside Burke’s physical therapy staff. Join us in congratulating Brian Wadsworth, a physical therapist at our Somers Outpatient Therapy Program, on his newest publication. He was recently published by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). His article, "Stroke, Part III Interventions and Outcomes," explores physical therapists’ efforts to provide evidence-based, best-practice treatments for stroke survivors. Brian is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Health Science with a concentration in Neurologic Rehabilitation at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. Help us welcome our 2024 Summer Nurse Externs! For ten weeks over the summer, nursing students entering their final year of school work alongside Burke’s Nursing staff in our Student Nurse Extern Program. By the end of the program, these select students will gain valuable knowledge about rehabilitation, learn to provide comprehensive and specialized care, develop patient-centered skills, understand patient recovery journeys, and prepare for a successful nursing career.
