I help people find their purpose & create a life they’re proud of. (480) 809-8118

When I received an invitation from a treatment center to be a guest on their podcast, I was initially skeptical. I often avoid podcasts, finding many to be redundant and self-promoting. However, I agreed to participate under the condition that I could speak candidly and authentically. They welcomed this approach, and I joined the conversation. What followed was a truly fun and engaging discussion with host James. Although it felt brief, our conversation extended to nearly two hours, covering important aspects of the recovery industry, GAMBIT RECOVERY , family dynamics, and the importance of community. Thank you to James Rich for being so genuine and open, and for making it feel less like an infomercial and more like a much-needed conversation with a friend about recovery, sobriety, and the challenges we face. #addictionrecovery #mentalhealth #podcastguest #gambitrecovery #recovery

  • The Evolving Landscape of the Addiction Crisis: A Multifaceted Challenge written by James Rich The ongoing addiction crisis remains a formidable challenge, significantly exacerbated by the potent synthetic opioid fentanyl, which is 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine. The DEA reports a troubling rise in fentanyl-related overdoses, often compounded by the presence of xylazine, a tranquilizer that further increases overdose risks ( https://lnkd.in/drZuHpke ) ( https://lnkd.in/g9vVd6bR ). In response, the concept of safe injection sites has gained traction. These facilities offer controlled environments where individuals can use drugs under medical supervision, reducing the risk of overdose and connecting users with essential health services. This strategy is particularly vital given the lethal combination of substances often involved in overdose deaths ( https://lnkd.in/gzrX_qzh... ). Polysubstance use, where individuals consume multiple drugs simultaneously, adds another layer of complexity to the crisis. A significant portion of overdose deaths in 2021 involved multiple substances, highlighting the necessity for comprehensive treatment approaches ( https://lnkd.in/g8H2VDXh ). Promising advancements in addiction research offer hope, such as studies on semaglutide for reducing alcohol use disorder and efforts to develop non-opioid treatments for chronic pain. These advancements aim to improve the efficacy of existing treatments like naltrexone, crucial for managing cravings and reducing relapse rates ( https://lnkd.in/guPtFC-E ) ( https://lnkd.in/g9vVd6bR ). Addressing the multifaceted nature of the addiction crisis through innovative treatments and harm reduction strategies is essential for mitigating this pervasive public health issue. Buena Vista Recovery is actively contributing to the fight against addiction by providing a range of services designed to address the needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. Their programs include drug and alcohol detox, residential treatment, and intensive outpatient programs (IOP), tailored to support individuals at various stages of recovery. Buena Vista emphasizes a compassionate, patient-centered approach, aiming to offer not only medical treatment but also emotional and psychological support to help individuals rebuild their lives. Through comprehensive care and community support initiatives, Buena Vista Recovery is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by addiction in the Phoenix area. If you or a loved one needs assistance, please contact Buena Vista Recovery at 480-999-0851 or https://lnkd.in/eYRjdr9 for support.

  • Reposting an Inspiring Journey of Sobriety. I recently came across a powerful post from Tony Albrecht celebrating 14 years of sobriety since May 29th, 2010. He shared 14 invaluable lessons he has learned along the way:

I took my last drink on May 29th, 2010. Here are 14 lessons from the last 14 years.  1. High-functioning alcoholic is not a personality.  2. You’ve got a drinking problem if your drinking causes problems.  3. You hit rock bottom the moment you stop digging.  4. You don’t lose friends when you quit boozing. You lose drinking buddies. Big difference.  5. Quitting booze didn't solve my problems. It just got me to the starting line of doing the work I needed to do.  6. Change is less like manufacturing (making something). It's more like farming (creating conditions conducive to change).  7. I’m granted a daily reprieve from my disease contingent on the maintenance of my spiritual condition. I tattooed this date on my wrist because that was too long a sentence to fit on my wrist.  8. Some of us lack the switch that tell us when we’ve had enough alcohol, and I haven’t seen a way to get one installed as an adult.  9. Non-alcoholic craft beers...not bad! They deliver 75% of the pleasure, 0% of the problems. 10. I understand that sobriety begins when substances stop calling the shots. 11. One of the greatest gifts of my life is that my wife of 8 years and children have never seen me drunk. 12. I am capable of being a man worth staying married to for 8 years. 😜 13. With each passing year, I'm more grateful to my mom, who first sat me down at 22 to suggest I was an alcoholic. I wasn’t ready to hear the message then, but she got the wheels between my ears turning in an irreversible way. Her courage and love saved me. She passed away in September. This anniversary hits deeper. 14. Every day is another choice and another chance to turn it all around. If you're struggling with alcohol, I feel you. Not only is there life after alcohol—Things can get so much better. Thanks for reading this one. 🙏
