Based in Dallas and Austin, our mission is to use the sport of lacrosse to broaden the horizons of our youth.

About us

We, the Bridge Family, are a sports-based youth development nonprofit serving the urban communities of North and Central Texas. Our mission is to use lacrosse to broaden the horizons of our community's youth. In 2004, our programming began with a small summer lacrosse camp in South Dallas. In 2008, we officially became Bridge Lacrosse after seeing incredible progress in programming, and even greater opportunities to impact youth. We provide hours of high-quality lacrosse instruction, with the help of high school volunteers and coaches, as well as providing new experiences and opportunities for personal growth. Our greater purpose is to use this unique and nontraditional sport to help close the opportunity gap that exists in many areas of North and Central Texas. For us, we believe that sports can be an integral part of a child's development. In 2024, the organization New Horizons Lacrosse merged into Bridge Lacrosse where we expanded to create Bridge Austin. Family Friday | The origins of Bridge can be traced back more than 20 years ago to St. Philip's School and Community Center, one of our long standing partners. Many of those first student-athletes and Saints can still be found at home within our Bridge Family as alumni. Special shoutout to these five former Saints, four of whom now coaching with us in the spring! Two claps for Alexander Huerta, Zach Thompson, Chase Snowden, Jacob Gonzalez and Reese Hicks. #bridgefamily #bridgefamily

Summer Academy is around the corner and we are excited to announce that, this year, we’ll be headed to San Marcos and the campus of Texas State University. We are excited to host Summer Academy as an all-high school camp with student-athletes from four cities; Dallas, Austin, Houston & Chicago. We are ready for a new adventure, a new look and a new feel for this year’s camp. For summer 2024, our camp logo helps us represent our new campus and the Texas State mascot, the Bobcat. We’re ready to go for a great event and to see everyone in San Marcos! #bridgefamily #bridgefamilia #eatemupcats

Family Friday | It’s the return of our college campus visit programming and we’re down in Austin with student-athletes from both Bridge Austin and Bridge Dallas. Our first stop, the University of Texas🤘and a guided tour through the campus. Then, we headed over to St. Edward’s University 🐐 to visit Coach Ashley’s old stomping ground and hear from the admissions office. It’s been a great day of learning and a lot of walking. Next campus visits, U of North Texas and Texas Women’s University! #bridgefamily #bridgefamilia #texasfight #gohilltoppers

Without great partnerships very few of our programs would be as successful or impactful as they are today. Our career exploration program is our prime example of how organizational partnerships can benefit our mission and our student-athletes. Yesterday, as part of Sixth Street's Community Day, we hosted our career & college exploration kickoff combining high performance fitness sessions and a college & career discussion and activities. Hosted at Sports Academy in Plano, we got a chance to run around, compete and ask questions and share with Sixth Street employees. It was a great day of hard work and engagement between our two organizations and we cannot thank Sixth Street and Sports Academy enough for the great day and opportunity to kickoff our summer career exploration in a big way! #bridgefamily #bridgefamilia

Family Friday | We want to give our Family Friday shoutout to a very special senior class and to the ten Panthers and Eagles who were awarded a total of $16,000 in scholarships from our Detweiler Family Scholarship & Edie Lycke Scholarship (powered by HLax). During our banquet, we invited our applicants and finalists to receive their unnecessarily large checks and celebrate an incredible high school career, their academic accomplishments and time with Bridge. We are so proud of each of them and are thrilled to help them in their next chapter. Congrats to our Detweiler Family Scholarship winners, Omar Ortiz and Amaria Smith, and to our Edie Lycke Scholarship winner, Allura Jules. Every applicant, also, walked away with some level of support. Congratulations to all our applicants and finalists of this year's scholarship awards. #bridgefamily #bridgefamilia

Today, we pay tribute to Juneteenth, also recognized as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, marking the liberation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It was on June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas, when Union troops arrived to declare the end of slavery, two years post the Emancipation Proclamation. The delayed notice in Texas resulted from scarce Union presence and the reluctance of slave owners to convey the message of freedom. Nonetheless, Juneteenth stands as a powerful symbol of freedom, endurance, and the eternal quest for equality and justice. #Juneteenth #EmancipationDay

Let’s go! It’s time to meet our summer 2024 interns! They have officially completed orientation and training, and we are thrilled to introduce Kristen, PJ, Brian, Thomas, Marina and Bailey! This is our largest group of interns, ever, and they will help oversee all aspects of our summer programs both in Dallas and Austin. Marina and PJ are headed back to Austin, and our four other interns are ready to continue the work in Dallas. We are also proud that all four Dallas interns are Bridge alums! It’s going to be a great summer. #bridgefamily #bridgefamilia

On this Memorial Day Weekend, we honor and remember the bravery and selflessness of our military personnel. As part of the Bridge Family, let's pause to acknowledge the principles of integrity, togetherness, and strength that they represent. Their sacrifices and unwavering commitment should always be remembered.
