About us
Great Futures Start HERE. Our Mission: The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington is to help boys and girls of all backgrounds, especially those who need us most, build confidence, develop character and acquire the skills needed to become productive, civic-minded, responsible adults. Company Overview: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington was established in 1886 as the Newsboys and Children's Aid Society . In the early 1900's, the Working Boys Home and Aide Association replaced this organization and enlarged the scope of service to neighborhood boys. With the support of the Rotary Club of Washington, D.C., a board of trustees was established and the name changed to Boys Clubs of Washington. In 1973, Boys Clubs of Washington began serving girls as full and equal members. In July of 1981, Boys Clubs of Washington changed its name to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington to reflect its new direction. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington is now one of the largest affiliates of Boys & Girls Clubs of America with 18 Clubs, 1 outreach site, and 3 satellite sites over a 75-mile radius from Frederickburg, Virginia to Germantown, Maryland as well as a residential summer camp in Southern Maryland.

Last week, over 500 youth advocates from Boys & Girls Clubs around the country converged on our nation’s capital for Summit for America’s Youth 2024! Taking an enormous step in their advocacy journey, these incredible young leaders connected with peers, learned from our nation’s top leaders, and truly stepped into their power as our next, and current, generation of leaders. Before the summit, youth were empowered to work with people from diverse backgrounds, becoming change agents through the creation and implementation of their own local advocacy projects. They then presented these projects about housing, mental health, climate change, gun violence, and other relevant topics, competing for top honors amongst their peers. Their passion and dedication to making a difference in their communities is truly inspiring! Together across the movement, we’re building a brighter future! #BGCA #SAY2024 #BGCGW #SummitForAmericasYouth2024 #YouthAdvocacy

The Summit for America's Youth gathered young leaders from across the country in Washington, D.C. to experience advocacy at the federal level of government, and to develop experience participating in the democratic process. Congratulations to the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada for winning the Changemaker Challenge, and we sincerely hope all BGCA participants felt welcome in our city. #GreatFuturesStartHere #BGCGW
Congratulations to Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada for winning the Changemaker Challenge at our annual Summit for America's Youth! The Changemaker Challenge is a Shark Tank-style competition where 3 finalist Clubs pitch their advocacy project to an esteemed panel of judges who ask questions about their motivations, advocacy methods, and outcomes. Through their partnership with the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY), the Club's project is focused on building out resource fairs to address youth homelessness. Their goal is to connect homeless youth to resources and additional community support! Learn more about youth advocacy: https://bit.ly/3W4RTEt
