About 5 years ago, I conceived of a business to support executive women in their job search. And let me tell you, seeing women like you giving it their all and rising to the top... It keeps all our work inside BossmakeHer meaningful and SO worth it! That’s why it's heartbreaking to hear about women's daily struggles just to move from one interview to the next, let alone reach that coveted finish line. I know, and you know, the grind of proving yourself over the past 10, 15, or 20 years— The sacrifices you made, the loyalty you’d shown, and the profound impact you had on the companies and teams you led. So why can't recruiters and companies see that? Why are they asking you questions that aren’t even relevant? Why does it feel like climbing Everest to get beyond that first interview? Sometimes, it seems like you have to "convince" them of something that seems so obvious, and suddenly, it gets frustrating… This whole job search feels like a never-ending sales pitch. Well, I have some good news for you! In this recent article, I share expert tips on how to breeze past the first interview and get to the second, third, and beyond! Because, while securing that leadership position is the ultimate goal, the journey there is just as important. The more confident and relaxed you are throughout the process, the better your chances of getting where you want to be. Here are a few tips I've put together on commanding confidence in the interview process --> READ MORE https://lnkd.in/ehmAY-Vk We're rooting for you! #interviewtips #jobsearch #careers #success #bossmakeher

Gentle reminder: Women leaders are unhappy working for you...😱 How can you fix this? 1. Stop interrupting them 2. Understand they need more flexible family time 3. Pay them the same as their male counterparts 4. Stop taking credit for their work 5. Promote them into the VP role they deserve (sooner rather than later) Great leaders aren't just employees; they are million-dollar assets. Women bring more women to your teams. Reflect: How are you treating your top female leaders? #leadership #management #careers #humanresources #diversity #bestadvice

How to handle (and not handle) being ghosted...😤 #jobsearch #success

🚩Assertive vs. Aggressive Follow-Up: Understanding the Fine Line 🚩 Jobseekers, listen up, especially leaders. I know, I know. Ghosting is at an all-time high. Jobseeker stress is at an all-time high. Things are pretty messy in the market right now... The job search is an emotional process that can push us to the edge and shake us to our core. Given that, I thought it might be a good time to discuss the crucial difference between assertiveness and what might be perceived as aggression when following up with employers. Trust me, getting this right can make or break your chances. Imagine this: a small company with a part-time recruiter posts a job and receives over 500 applications. The company sets a goal to move quickly, but as a lean organization, the recruiter has to wait for input from others before moving the candidates forward. Here's what happens next: You... a) don't hear back when the recruiter said he/she said they would or worse b) you never hear back... Neither is ideal. But there is no benefit to drawing attention to failures or appearing frustrated or even irritated when following up with an employer. At BossmakeHer, we're in the trenches daily, supporting women through this journey. We are advocates who understand the new stress level you face today in a saturated market. But remember, employers are (hopefully) doing their best. Maybe it's not enough; it often isn't. But patience with employers, just as you seek transparency, demonstrates empathy, EQ, and business acumen. How do you handle a disappointment? How do you communicate when things don't go your way? Your response says a great deal about how you communicate during conflict. Now, about that "blackhole" feeling when you haven't heard back from an employer? Consider this: it might just be a delay. Best-intentioned recruiters may unintentionally ghost candidates due to overwhelming workloads or communication lapses; it's not personal. It's not great, but it's not about you. But you know what is about you? How you respond to a potential employer or recruiter who hasn't followed up seems obvious... Politely check in and see where they are. If they ghost you, move on, but don't burn a bridge. And here's a golden nugget of advice: never put other opportunities on hold just because you've reached out to a company. Keep those doors open until you have a written offer in hand. So, how do you rephrase your follow-ups to strike the right balance? Here are a few tips: ✅ Replace demands with inquiries, asking for updates politely. ✅ Express gratitude for the opportunity and understanding of their busy schedules. ✅ Maintain professionalism and positivity throughout your communication. ✅ Be patient but persistent, showing your genuine interest in the role. Remember, it's not just about landing a job; it's about building relationships and leaving a positive impression. Stay assertive, not aggressive to keep those doors open! 💼✨ #bestadvice #jobsearch

What story are you telling yourself about your value in the market?

View profile for Tracy Saunders, graphic

🌟 Don't Get Bogged Down by Perceived Competition! 🌟 In the job-hunting journey, it's easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. You see candidates with seemingly stronger backgrounds or more traditional career paths and start doubting your own capabilities. But here's the thing: your journey is unique, and your value proposition is unparalleled. (Do you believe me??) Instead of getting lost in comparison, focus on what truly matters: your ability to make a compelling case for why you're the perfect fit for the job. Reflect on your achievements and ask yourself: have I driven similar outcomes before? What sets me apart from the typical candidate with a conventional trajectory? Too often, we let assumptions and self-imposed narratives dictate our confidence levels. But what if we shift our perspective? Start by honing in on the data presented in the role summary (what are they hiring this role to do?) and the requirements in the job description so you can find the true answer. Align yourself against those key requirements and showcase how you meet or exceed them. Remember, organizations have varying degrees of flexibility regarding job requirements. You might possess unique skills or experiences that align perfectly with their needs, even if it's not immediately apparent. They might not even know exactly what they want until they see YOU. The only way to find out is by taking that leap and applying. So, don't let the perceived competition dim your light. Embrace your unique value proposition, leverage your strengths, and let your qualifications speak for themselves. You never know where that next opportunity might lead until you seize it. Keep pushing forward, and trust in your ability to shine! ✨ #JobSearch #CareerAdvice #BelieveInYourself #bestadvice #womeninleadership

💰The ROI of Your Job Search: Crunching the Numbers for $50,000 to $75,000+ Returns 💰 Are you stuck in the muck with your job search? Trust me, I get it. You're high-achieving and know the fundamentals, simple stuff right? Resume, Linkedin, outreach, the good old application process... Of course, you think you can handle it all on your own. That's what women do. But let's talk facts – the DIY search costs you big time. Time, money, and way too much stress. By investing in the right tools and resources, you can fast-track your job search and see some serious cash come your way. Here's the deal: ✅ If you're targeting $150,000 a year, landing a role 6 months sooner could put $75,000 in your pocket. ✅ And if you're aiming for a higher salary, say $200,000 a year, getting back to work 3 months earlier could mean $50,000. Think of it as flipping the script – instead of sitting back and trying to figure out the mind of recruiters, the perfect positioning, and why you're not hearing back about the roles you want, you could be getting guidance that gets you back to work sooner. In today's job market, time is of the essence. The longer you put off getting help, the more opportunities slip through your fingers – and the harder it becomes to catch up. Plus, let's not forget the toll it takes on your mental health. Are you stressing over your job search 24/7? That's costing you far more than money. With the right guidance and advocacy, you'll cut through the noise, get to where you want to be sooner, and leave all that stress in the rearview mirror. And I want that for you!! 🚀💼 #BossmakeHer #makeitrain #CareerGrowth #Jobsearch #professionaldevelopment #bestadvice

I'm thrilled to share that I've hit 15,000 followers! 🙌🏻 While the number may not seem like much in the world of Instagram where millions reign supreme, the quality of my followers is what truly matters to me. Last year, LinkedIn implemented a policy to remove restricted and hibernated accounts from follower counts to provide a more accurate representation of one's audience. This caused a momentary dip in my numbers, but I'm grateful for the followers who have stuck around. Each and every one of you matters. My goal has always been to help more women leaders, whether it's one person or one thousand. I never set out to have a million followers, but rather to support women in leadership who want to go after what they truly deserve. At BossmakeHer, we don't advertise on Facebook or Instagram. We show up on LinkedIn to support our community. Thank you to the #LinkedInFam and the entire #BossmakeHer team for supporting the growth and journey of high-achieving powerhouses. Here's to continued growth and success! And here's to you! #careers #success #management #linkedineditors #bossmakeher #jobsearch

🔍📄 Is Your Resume Document Name Killing Your Chances? Here's What I've Noticed After Reviewing 500+ Resumes in Just a Few Days 😱 🤔💼 Over the last few days I've reviewed hundreds of resumes and here's what I want you to know... 1️⃣ Doc Names Matter: 🙌🏼 A Confusing Example: Take it from someone who's seen it all – a resume document named "SusanTv14" is killing your edge. It's highly unsearchable and goodness, it's version 14! That can't be good (why are there 14 versions?). Well, I know why but it will leave doubt in the mind of the recruiter. Be careful with saying too much or including the wrong title in the doc name. Clear, professional names like "Jane_Hill_Resume.pdf" make it easier for me to identify and prioritize. 2️⃣ Navigating the Resume Avalanche: With such a large volume of resumes flooding in, a well-named document can be a breath of fresh air. Avoid overly generic file names like "CV.doc" or "Resume.pdf" – they're easily lost in the shuffle. Instead, opt for something distinctive that includes your name and the word "resume" to catch my attention. It's more searchable for my inbox. 3️⃣ The Power of Keywords: In my quest to find the right candidates, I rely heavily on keyword searches. Including relevant keywords in your document name can significantly boost your chances of being noticed. Think about the job title or key skills related to the position you're applying for and incorporate them into your file name. 4️⃣ Formatting for Compatibility: As someone who's navigated far too many cranky Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), I can attest to the importance of formatting. Spaces in file names can sometimes wreak havoc with these systems, leading to potential parsing errors. Using underscores (_) instead of spaces ensures compatibility and enhances the chances of your resume being accurately processed. ℹ️ Insights from the ATS Frontlines: ATS systems often struggle with spaces in file names, so choosing a format like "John_Doe_Resume.doc" over "John Doe Resume.doc" can make a world of difference in how your application is processed. Remember: [Your Name]_Resume.doc By avoiding these common mistakes and considering the perspective of someone who's knee-deep in resumes, you're already ahead of the game in your job search journey! 🚀 #JobSearch #ResumeTips #CareerDevelopment #management #success #bestadvice
