20 years later: revisiting the landmark Zubulake e-discovery precedents On July 20, 2004, Judge Shira A. Scheindlin, U.S. District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York, issued her final e-discovery opinion among a series of precedential opinions in the landmark case of Zubulake v. UBS Warburg. In the 20 years since then, the groundbreaking Zubulake opinions have served as a foundation for evolving e-discovery law. Sheindlin for a “fireside chat” to discuss her Zubulake opinions and how e-discovery law has evolved to the present day from those original foundational rulings. We are excited to welcome Dan Boyle back to the firm. Dan joins our Los Angeles office as a partner focused on high-level white collar investigations, foreign corruption, and asset tracing and forfeiture. Formerly an associate at BSF, Dan has spent the past five years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Central District of California. While at the U.S. Attorney's Office, he served as the office’s High Intensity Financial Crimes Area Coordinator, handling at least 90 criminal and civil matters.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court denied two petitions for certiorari from the only remaining objectors to the historic $2.67 billion class action settlement against Blue Cross Blue Shield. This marks the final stage in the court approval of the settlement, which includes one of the largest ever monetary settlements in a private antitrust case without government involvement, as well as substantial prospective injunctive relief.
