Ron Rosano (BMG360 head of Search marketing)'s Take on Google's Cancelled Third-Party Cookie Deprecation Not extremely surprised. The company's initial push to eliminate third-party cookies was a response to the growing demand for online privacy. As the faraway market share leader of web browsers, they didn't really have to do anything, but in the privacy-first world we're moving towards, they're going to have to address privacy in some way. Instead of a full cookie cleanse, Google now plans to introduce a new Chrome experience that allows users to make informed choices about their web browsing privacy. Google's Privacy Sandbox initiative (more here: https://lnkd.in/dPGxZPst ) is meant to be a solution, aiming to create innovative ways to improve online privacy while maintaining an ad-supported internet. In the blog post, Google says they would “introduce a new experience in Chrome that lets people make an informed choice that applies across their web browsing," shifting the responsibility to users, potentially allowing Google to maintain its advertising effectiveness while still addressing privacy concerns.
