Senior Research Engineer Orion Reed made the top of the Y Combinator Hacker News feed recently for his research on Scoped Propogators (SP), a programming model designed to be embedded within existing environments and user interfaces Two key insights for the Scoped Propagator Model: 1. By representing computation as mappings between nodes along edges, we lessen the need to fix node interactions at design time. 2. By scoping propagation to events, we can augment nodes w/ interactive behavior that's suitable to the host environment. Although there are many questions about this model yet to be answered... - function reuse - modeling side-effects - handling multi-input-multi-output propagation - other applications Formalization of the model and examination of real-world usage is now underway in collaboration with our Chief Engineer Michael Zargham.
