Braxton) has built a vibrant network engaging nearly 400 Black environmental students and professionals. Now as many of us transition into new stages of our lives and careers, we're excited to open the door for new leadership. We're looking for a passionate, experienced leader to take the helm as our new Executive Director. This paid, part-time role offers an unparalleled opportunity for professional growth and networking with companies and Black leaders at the forefront of sustainability fields. 🌿✨Trailblazing Together! 🥾🌿 This Tuesday, Ife Shoola, PMP of BlackOak Collective and Maya Alexander of Alliance for the Shenandoah Valley facilitated a BIPOC Connection Session at the 2024 Choose Clean Water Coalition Conference in Ellicott City, Maryland. This field trip was curated especially for environmental professionals identifying as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to engage in a space to build community, network, and share resources! Attendees engaged in a series of thoughtful discussions and engaging activities and trailblazed together on a guided walk on a nature trail in Turf Valley 🌿 We look forward to forging more connections with environmental leaders of color! ✌🏾

I had an amazing experience last Monday, speaking at Harlem's Fashion Row (HFR)'s 3rd Annual Sustainability Forum presented by H&M, Macy's, and Victoria’s Secret & Co. As an advocate, eco-creative, and a self-proclaimed fashion enthusiast, I was thrilled to share the story of BlackOak Collective with industry executives, creatives, and enthusiasts who share my passion for sustainability and inclusion. I was honored to have Mikayla L. Morrison, M.M., M.S. moderate our session entitled 'BlackOak Collective x Fashion Activism: Mobilizing Communities for Sustainable Change'. Mikayla's invitation and advocacy for our work was deeply appreciated. During our session, I emphasized the importance of having more Black leaders across the green economy/social impact spaces and showcased how BlackOak works to recruit and retain the next generation of Black environmental leaders. It was also a privilege to connect and learn from industry leaders and creatives such as Rohit Burman, Sarah Moore, DOMINIQUE DRAKEFORD, and Heron Preston (amongst many others).
