Story time got an upgrade this summer📚! Students at our Pelham Bay Early Childhood Center participated in the Aaron Judge All Rise Foundation ⚾️Book Club this summer The children listened to “How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night?” by Jane Yolen & Mark Teague. With fun rhyming and bright pictures, the children were reminded that sometimes getting to bed on time can be fun. The children are looking forward to receiving their certificate from Aaron Judge himself. #autism #DevelopmentalDisabilities #aaronjudge #allrise #bookclub #summerreading #birch

🦋Our young explorers at our Pelham Bay Early Childhood Center took flight on an amazing journey of butterflies! After reading “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle and “Caterpillar to Butterfly” by Laura Marsh, our students watched their own caterpillars🐛 transform into beautiful butterflies over two weeks. They learned about metamorphosis, pupa, chrysalis, and cocoon, and discovered what it takes to keep a butterfly happy: a little sugar or honey water! #birchfamilyservices #LearningThroughNature #animalovers

Today marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) signed into law on July 26, 1990, prohibiting discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, removing barriers to employment, transportation, public services, and other critical areas. This landmark legislation has made an impact in the fight for equality. July is also Disability Pride Month, an opportunity to celebrate, recognize, and honor the history, achievements, and experiences of people living with disabilities. A heartfelt thank you to the Pfizer team for dedicating their time and effort today to enhance the backyard of one of our residences. The volunteers began by learning about Birch, our residential program, and the individuals we support. They then rolled up their sleeves and transformed the outdoor space through cleaning, weeding, and landscaping. Thanks to their hard work, our residents now have a beautifully revitalized area that can offer therapeutic benefits to enjoy! #autism #DevelopmentalDisabilities #MakeADifference #getoutdoors #volunteer #volunteering

Our Springfield Gardens Education Center students had a bee-utiful 🐝 day at the Queens Botanical Garden where they got the buzz on how bees make honey and learned how they help plants grow. Next our students became mini botanists by exploring the plants and trees around them. Each student even planted a seed to take home! 🌱 #YoungScientists #QueensBotanicalGarden #BeeEducated #birch
