Together, we empower youth to realize their potential.
About us
Together, we empower youth to realize their potential. By creating professionally supported mentoring relationships, we defend that potential and build brighter futures. Founded in 1963, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass & Metrowest has supported children in our community through individualized mentoring programs for over 50 years. We reach the children who need us most through strong partnerships with local schools and youth development programs, and with the support of community volunteers, many coming from local colleges and corporations. Volunteers serve as mentors (Bigs) to children (Littles) who are living in poverty, come from single-parent households, or face other types of adversity. Bigs and Littles meet weekly for activities that might include working on homework, attending a sporting event, taking a hike or walk, cooking a healthy meal, doing a science experiment, and so much more. The essential activity is quality, uninterrupted time between a reliable, caring mentor and a child in need of additional adult support. Mentors are a consistent adult presence in the lives of mentees celebrating their successes, facing challenges with them and helping them reach their full potential.

Congratulations to our CEO, Connie Askin, for being awarded by NABA INC.'s with the Ally and Advocate of the Year award at their Annual Conference this week. We are so proud of our work with NABA to support young adults through mentorship. #NABAFlow #BiggerTogether
Here I am at the NABA inc conference #nabaflow on Juneteenth, thinking about ‘my why.’ Said a different way, ‘What do we do for love, professionally?’ I am guided by tikkun olam- action to repair and improve the world. It doesn’t take heroics, it doesn’t require perfection, but it does require showing up. I’m showing up for Guylaine Saint Juste to be a consistent friend and partner in opening opportunities and networks with community college students like these beautiful people from Massachusetts Bay Community College NABA INC. and our BBBS agency are creating a model program to support education, access to professional mentors, and clear barriers. Another touchstone for me is Ubuntu- I am because you are; my humanity is tied to your humanity. And so as I reflect on being honored last night by NABA Inc as the Ally and Advocate of the Year, I feel love and humanity and a great well of gratitude to NABA nation, colleagues from the national team, and their generous leader, Guylaine. #bebig #biggertogether #bigscm Johanna Benavides, CPA, MBA Joel Yate Angela Villard Sepehr_ Ansari
