About us
Based in Miami, Florida, the Beta Analytic radiocarbon dating lab revolutionized the fields of archaeology and late quaternary geology. Prior to the company’s inception in 1979, radiocarbon dates were scarce and available only through small university laboratories. It took months and sometimes years to obtain carbon dating results. The lab’s commitment to meet the scientific community’s demand for fast yet accurate carbon dating analysis led to immediate success. Beta Analytic was founded by Murry Tamers, Ph.D. (Yale University), D.Sc. (Universite de Paris Sorbonne) and Jerry Stipp, Ph.D. (Australian National University). The company’s dedication to accuracy is at the core of its policies. By innovating new techniques, keeping abreast of the latest technology, and training qualified scientists to stay ahead of demand, Beta Analytic has maintained its firm commitment to quality over the years. Beta Analytic provides the following services: - Radiocarbon Dating by Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) - Stable Isotopes Analysis (δ18O, δ2H, δ15N, δ13C) - %C, %N, C:N and % collagen yield for non-cremated bones All our measurements are ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited, a guarantee of accuracy and precision. Beta has forwarding offices in the UK, Europe, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan. To know more about what we do, please visit www.radiocarbon.com

Using Pteropods in #Paleoclimate Studies ISO 17025-accredited Beta Analytic offers radiocarbon dating of #pteropods. Results are available in 3-14 business days. Pteropods are commonly analyzed in modern climate as well as paleoclimate studies due to both their abundance within the water column as well as their vulnerability to changing #environmental conditions, particularly #CO2 driven #climatechange. For example, pteropods have been used to reconstruct and/or contextualize past climate change events such as the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM), known as the closest analogue to today’s ocean acidification. Through the analysis of fossil evidence from 21 pteropod species, it was found that all pteropod clades survived the PETM and diverged soon thereafter, demonstrating that while they are known to be vulnerable to ocean acidification, they have been resilient in similar past conditions. Did you miss our webinar on Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC)? Register here for free to watch the recording: https://lnkd.in/gj3DX26k Topics discussed include: - Dissolved Inorganic Carbon (DIC) - Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) - Sampling Requirements: Concentration, Salinity, and Filtration - Literature Case Studies #Freewebinar #Hydrology #Geoscience #WaterManagement
Join us for a complimentary live #webinar focused on DOC! Our agenda outlines a brief overview of DIC versus DOC and a few example DOC molecules. We'll talk about some of Beta's R&D studies as it relates to sampling requirements and our nalgene/amber glass bottle studies. We will discuss UV-Vis, since it's a unique part of the pre-screening process at Beta Analytic, and in the last few years shown in several scientific publications to monitor seasonal changes in DOC. Furthermore, we will discuss a brief slide on our method, and conclude with case studies. Our experts will discuss (Amy M. Scott & Sean Ahearn): • Dissolved Inorganic Carbon (DIC) • Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) • Sampling Requirements: Concentration, Salinity, and Filtration • Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopic tracking of aromatic carbon • UV oxidation and conversion of 14CDOC to 14CO2 for radiocarbon analysis • Case Studies Register here for free: https://lnkd.in/gj3DX26k #radiocarbon #hydrology #geology #freewebinar #livewebinar
