About us

Financial Strength and Integrity With more than 50 years in business, BHHC has grown from a regional organization to a national insurance group, offering insurance products from coast to coast. Relationships are the cornerstone of our culture, and we believe in doing the right thing. That means we invest in our business in every way possible to deliver on our mission and demonstrate that people are what power our success. Our commitment to financial strength and integrity means our customers can rest assured that we will be there when it counts. Nationwide Strength. Hometown Feel. Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies (BHHC) began as eight separately managed regional insurance companies across the United States. As originally chartered, each wrote primarily in its own “home state” – with some business in bordering states. The eight companies began as personal lines writers, and each had its local underwriting and management presence in their territories – a core strategy BHHC continues to utilize. Today, BHHC has expanded its footprint nationally, while remaining committed to our heritage of offering the personalized service of a local homestate insurance company.

  • Since 1941, the Fourth of July has been honored as a federal holiday. It marks the moment on July 2, 1776, when the Continental Congress voted for independence, and just two days later, the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, penned by Thomas Jefferson. Today, we pause to honor our nation's independence and reflect on the sacrifices made by our fallen heroes and those who continue to serve and protect us. Their bravery and dedication are etched in our history and hearts forever. Wishing everyone a joyful and safe Fourth of July! #WeAreBHHC #ServiceAndSacrifice #MilitaryAppreciation #FourthofJuly #IndependenceDay

  • July is Extreme Heat Awareness Month! ☀️ Did you know heat is the leading cause of death among hazardous weather conditions in the U.S.? From 2011 to 2022, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 33,890 heat-related work injuries and illnesses were reported, many of which were preventable. 📝 Prevention is Key Employers should implement a heat illness prevention program and ensure workers know what to do if someone shows signs of heat illness. • In June, our Employee Resource Group, Black Voices & Friends, is celebrating Juneteenth.  Did you know Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, occurring two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation? This year marks the fourth year of this significant day being recognized as a federal holiday, the first new federal holiday since Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 1983.  We want to recognize the contributions made by people of color within our organization, in current events, and throughout history. By remembering the events of 1865 and supporting local Juneteenth celebrations, we can foster greater understanding and unity. Learn more about Juneteenth from The Juneteenth Foundation and find events near you! Let’s continue to build a work environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging, respect, and value. #TeamBHHC #WeAreBHHC #BlackVoicesAndFriends #DEI #Juneteenth
