The purpose of the working group is for a globally diverse set of organizations to collaborate to maximize the contribution of educational technology to inclusive education for learners with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries as well as marginalized communities within these countries. Its primary objective is to assist underserved communities throughout the world in adopting and implementing educational technology to support inclusive education. Join us from the 5th to 7th of August at the KERALA FEDERATION OF THE BLIND in Vanchiyoor, Thiruvananthapuram, for a transformative event with Benetech Bookshare. This two-day training session, under the "Project on Financial Support for Development of Accessible Learning Materials - SIPDA," aims to enhance the creation and utilization of accessible ePubs. Organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) and the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, and hosted by the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (Divyangjan), this event will feature comprehensive training, expert-led sessions, and hands-on workshops. Benetech is pleased to be apart of and to announce the launch of the Inclusive EdTech Working Group Linkedin page lead by our very own Vanessa Lombardo, ATP, M.Ed. The Inclusive EdTech Working Group is working to maximize the contribution of educational technology to inclusive education for learners with disabilities in low and middle-income countries and marginalized communities. They are focused on the intersection of EdTech and Inclusive Education and how to promote positive outcomes for individuals with disabilities worldwide. Inclusive EdTech Working Group has approximately 30 organizations as members, including World Education, CMB, Chemonics, Humanity & Inclusion, Save the Children US , Light for the World, GIZ, SIL International, eKitabu, DAISY Consortium , RTI, USAID, and World Vision. Iqra Walli Lohar from Aarath Narbal, Budgam, has overcome the challenges of #lowvision through determination and support. A smartphone from mjunction services ltd and training from the Project Jyoti Digital Literacy program along with Benetech Bookshare empowered her to teach her #visuallyimpaired sister and excel academically. As a member of Bookshare, Iqra is set to complete her Master of Social Work by the end of 2024. Now a Low Vision Tutor at VMS Bemina, Srinagar, she helps others access education through technology. In an inspiring effort to empower visually impaired youth in Jammu & Kashmir, mjunction services ltd, through its #ProjectJyoti Digital Literacy program, has provided #smartphones and training to four #visuallyimpaired students.
