July 1 – 7 is Clean Beaches Week. In Michigan, we're fortunate to have 3,300 miles of Great Lakes shoreline (plus a lot more with inland lakes), and with that access comes the responsibility to recognize the impact our actions can have on our environment. With the busy summer season and holiday weekend upon us, here are a few simple actions you can take to celebrate our many beautiful beaches and help to keep them clean, healthy and safe for all now and into the future: ✅ Leave no trace — properly dispose of trash and recyclables ✅ Clean up after your pets ✅ Avoid single-use plastics and don't bring glass to the beach ✅ Reduce your carbon footprint by walking or riding a bike to the beach ✅ Volunteer for a beach cleanup What's your favorite beach in the UP? #CleanBeachesWeek #LeaveNoTrace

Congratulations to Occupational Medicine Billing Specialist Liz Aho, who was nominated by her peers as this month’s UP Health System – Bell #HealthcareHero! Liz’s typical day is spent fielding phone calls and answering patient questions related to occupational medicine, billing, and insurance—a job in which she puts a strong focus on empathy and patience. With 13 years at UPHS – Bell, Liz said her favorite part of her role is the bonds she’s formed with her peers, or what she lovingly referred to as “the feeling of family with coworkers.” Thanks for all you do, Liz!
