My first taste of virality. 👇
I posted this on TikTok over 2 years ago. It did quite well.

I didn't know what to do with myself. Phones don't like what happens when posts go this viral, and this is only 20k views. Virality destroys batteries.
One thing no one teaches you about social is the dopamine high from the attention. Worse still, no one teaches you what to do, when the next piece of content "flops" in comparison.
I can tell you that it's a roller coaster of emotions before, during, and after a viral post, and the feeling of inadequacy that occurs during a "flop" is real. Still not sure I know how to deal with it properly, but I'm getting better, emotionally.
What I can share about being social on social, is that the phrase "niche down" is real. My content on TikTok, which did well, followed a basic framework of specificity.
To be clear, this is what worked for me. It may not, for you.
1. Know your audience
---> Mechanic Apprentices or Young Folks
2. Create a series relevant to that audience
---> So you wanna be a Mechanic
3. Be clear in your messaging
---> Hook line in the first 3-15 seconds
------> You're going to drink coffee
4. Relay YOUR experience, through stories or examples
---> I started with 4x4's
5. Keep it short, because attention spans are too.
---> Video length 58 seconds
...it took 27 more pieces before I hit another milestone, 100k views. But we'll talk about that next week.
