A: "Returning to my alma mater and working alongside my former professors to inspire and mentor the next generation of healthcare professionals. I never saw it coming, so it is truly humbling and special to be back home." Q: What advice would you give to our new BUCOM cohort before they begin school in the fall? A: "Trust in God. Stay encouraged and keep the faith throughout this journey. While it will not be an easy one, it will all be worth it and work out in the end." Q: Hobbies? Exciting day at BUCOM! Our faculty members are thrilled to begin seeing patients at the new Baptist Medical Group-Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Clinic. Specializing in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), they use hands-on techniques to restore balance in the body, focusing on the neuromusculoskeletal system to improve movement and organ function. OMT helps with a range of issues, from headaches to chronic pain and sports injuries. #BUCOM #OMT #PatientCare #HealthAndWellness

Tennessee Health Commissioner Dr. Ralph Alvarado visited Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville and Baptist Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine on Tuesday. Baptist received $9.1 million in funding from a Tennessee Department of Health grant program in 2023, with $5.5 million dedicated to renovating and doubling the size of Baptist Collierville’s ICU.

Meet Dr. Joseph D. Baker II, DO, FACOFP, CAQ-Geriatrics! Dr. Baker is an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for OMS-1 and OMS-2 Family Medicine and Geriatrics at BUCOM. We're excited to share his insights and advice for our BUCOM students this fall. Check out his words of wisdom below! 👇 Q: What's the most rewarding part of being a member of the BUCOM faculty? A: "The most rewarding thing is the camaraderie with the rest of the faculty and staff and unshakable belief in ourselves and what we can do when we work together for a common goal. The faculty and administrators are all focused on making this school produce the best possible, welcoming, inclusive, nurturing, personal, and high-quality learning environment that we can create. The students we will be educating, training, and mentoring will play a significant role in the future of osteopathic medicine in the Mid-South region and the US as a whole. We are working to build a bright future for students." Q: What advice would you give to our new BUCOM cohort before they begin school in the fall? A: "Recognize that you had to compete aggressively to get to where you are; however, you are now done competing with each other, and you are now in the position where you should reach out and help your fellow students to your absolute best ability.
