Bakelite Product 101: Fiberglass Mat for Asphalt Roof Shingles If you’re located in the U.S. or Canada, there is a good chance you live under the cover of a Bakelite product. If you live in one of the 80% of American or Canadian homes built with an asphalt shingle roof, there is a good chance that at its core, a Bakelite resin is holding it all together. Modern-day shingles are made with a fiberglass (nonwoven) core, made with a thermosetting resin (any traditional amino based resin) combined with a thermoplastic resin (often latex). Only Bakelite produces and supplies a single-package, all-in-one resin with both thermosetting and thermoplastic composition and performance. This technology allows our customers to receive a single liquid adhesive product to meet their production needs, saving space on storage demands, providing improved performance over more complex two-component adhesive systems, and running at lower cure temperatures, which reduces energy costs. When you join this team, you will be responsible to schedule all maintenance jobs leading to productivity and maximized plant operational up times. The Maintenance Scheduler’s primary responsibilities include: * Detailed planning of all mechanical and IE maintenance work that will be executed by the plant’s maintenance workforce. * Serve as primary liaison between operations, maintenance, and engineering groups and maintains appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results or work done. * Work with the Maintenance Manager to meet budget requirements * Serve in a team coaching capacity. Our Solbiate site recently welcomed students from the Politecnico di Milano – a public scientific-technological university that trains engineers, architects and industrial designers – to learn about the company, tour the site and learn about the processes behind our production. Politecnico takes part in several research, site and training projects collaborating with top European universities. The school’s contribution is increasingly being extended within other countries in North America, Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe.
