As First Editions® Eclipse® Bigleaf Hydrangea makes its way into consumers' hands this spring, it's been a joy to watch how the public has embraced and been excited by this amazing new hydrangea, bred by David Roberts at Bailey Innovations™, the breeding arm of Bailey Nurseries. Last week, Eclipse® took home the prestigious Peter Seabrook Award, celebrating the Best New Plant of 2024 from the BBC Gardeners' World Events LIVE in the UK. With over 100 plants submitted, Eclipse® came out on top, adding another significant honor to this new introduction's awards roster. We don't take these moments lightly. Years of breeding, trialing, and strategic planning go into bringing a new plant like this to the global market. The awards are incredibly exciting, but most importantly, an acknowledgement of the significant effort of the Bailey Nurseries team's tireless effort to bring only the best new plants to the world stage. In addition to the Bailey team, the First Editions® licensees are a critical extension of the team, providing additional trialing, distribution, and marketing efforts for the brand and rock star varieties.
