About us
A DYNAMIC ORGANIZATION The Association of Water Board Directors – Texas was formed in the early 1970’s to promote unity and education among the various water districts in Texas. We are an advocacy group for utility districts. The Association has more than 900 members. The membership is made up of different types of districts; MUD’s (Municipal Utility Districts), PUD’s (Public Utility Districts), SUD’s (Special Utility Districts), UD’s (Utility Districts), and WCID’s (Water Control & Improvement Districts), etc. Each of these districts is governed by at least a 5-member board of directors, who live or own property in the district that they govern. Levee Improvement Districts (LID’s) are also part of our membership. Our directors are grass root public officials. If you are a part of the water industry, your membership in AWBD is an investment which will yield significant value. Become a part of our dynamic Association.

Kudos to the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce and the Katy Area Economic Development Council for hosting a very informative and encouraging Economic Outlook Summit. Featured speakers indicated that Houston’s economy has stabilized near more sustainable, but still above trend, growth rates. The regional economy is strong and the outlook, positive. Many people don’t realize that water districts play a crucial role in shaping the thriving communities in their region. By providing essential infrastructure and services like water, sewage, and drainage, districts enable sustainable and high-quality development. AWBD is dedicated to the betterment of Texas water district operation and management so that neighborhoods have the resources needed to support residents’ quality of life. #KACC #KAEDC #AWBD
