We’re honored to share that last Thursday evening, Avelo’s Founder and CEO Andrew Levy was selected as an EY 2024 Entrepreneur Of The Year in the competition’s Gulf South region. This distinction is a tribute to all 1,000 Avelo Crewmembers who have driven Avelo’s growth and impact over the past three years. The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year program is the preeminent competition for entrepreneurs and leaders of high-growth companies. Andrew was selected by an independent judging panel made up of previous award winners, leading CEOs, and other business leaders. Candidates were evaluated based on their ability to create long-term value through entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to their purpose, and the demonstration of growth and substantial impact. The industry-leading operational reliability, worldclass customer satisfaction, and recent profitability milestones we’ve achieved are positively positioning Avelo for the substantial opportunities ahead. This prestigious recognition is a testament to the leadership, teamwork, and dedication to excellence distinguishing Avelo. As a Gulf South regional winner, Andrew is now eligible for the 2024 Entrepreneur Of The Year National Awards which will be announced in November. Over the years, the Entrepreneur Of The Year program has recognized the leadership of many admired entrepreneurs, including Starbucks’ Howard Schultz, LinkedIn’s Reid Hoffman and Jeff Weiner, Fitbit’s James Park, and Kendra Scott , among others. May’s U.S. airline industry reliability results are out and I’m proud to share for the second straight month Avelo Airlines ranked #1 in on-time performance and achieved the sector’s lowest flight cancellation rate. For the first five months of 2024, Avelo also climbed to #1 in on-time performance and maintained the second-lowest flight cancellation rate among U.S. carriers. These results are reported by Anuvu, a leading aviation data services company utilized by The Wall Street Journal for the publication’s annual airline ranking. Since Avelo’s debut in April 2021, our team of over 1,000 Crewmembers has been relentlessly focused on building the industry’s most reliable airline. Our 2024 on-time leadership is validation of our progress towards that goal. Despite flying in some of the most operationally challenging regions of the country, Avelo is consistently getting our Customers where they want to go on-time more than any other airline. Our Customers tell us Avelo’s operational reliability is a primary reason they are choosing our airline and keep coming back. As we head into the busy summer travel season, they can have the peace of mind knowing they are placing their trust in the industry leader in operational reliability.

Last month, Avelo flew a delegation of over 100 Connecticut pizzeria owners, veterans, community leaders, politicians and media to D.C. to declare New Haven pizza America's best pizza. Here's a recap of our journey to the steps of the U.S. Capitol!

Today is International Flight Attendant Day and we want to recognize our Avelo Inflight Crewmembers for the incredible job they do every day providing a friendly, attentive and, most importantly, safe experience for our Customers.   We’ve come a long way since our first flight on April 28, 2021, and our first class of 39 Burbank-based Flight Attendants. Today, we have 240 Flight Attendants spanning six bases. As much as things have changed over the past three years, our Customers’ fondness for Avelo’s Inflight Crewmembers has been unwavering.   Thank you for the dedication and professionalism you bring to Avelo every day on every flight.

We are excited to share Ernst & Young (EY), one of the world’s “Big Four” accounting firms, has selected our Founder and CEO Andrew Levy as a 2024 Entrepreneur of the Year Gulf South Region Finalist. Now in its 38th year, Entrepreneur of the Year is the preeminent competitive business award for audacious leaders who disrupt markets, revolutionize sectors, and have a transformational impact on lives. Over the past four decades, the program has recognized daring entrepreneurs with big ideas and bold actions that reshape our world. Andrew was one of the regional entrepreneurs selected as Finalists by an independent panel of judges. The candidates were evaluated based on their demonstration of building long-term value through entrepreneurial spirit, purpose, growth, and impact, among other core contributions and attributes. The Gulf South competition recognizes entrepreneurs from Central and South Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The regional winners will be announced on June 13.  As Avelo celebrates its third anniversary, this recognition is a tribute all 1,000 Avelo Crewmembers can take great pride in. There are few industries as challenging and dynamic as the airline sector. And when you consider the challenges Avelo has confronted along the way, this recognition is that much more meaningful. Happy Anniversary to Avelo Airlines! Three years ago this week, Avelo Airlines made its industry debut as a brand-new airline. The carrier set up base here at BUR and flew its very first passengers to Santa Rosa. Since then, Avelo Airlines has grown from that one service at one base to dozens of services and several bases all over the US and Puerto Rico. Avelo CEO Andrew Levy was at BUR today to celebrate with crewmembers. Joining them was Ava Barnett, one of BUR’s Airport Academy students. She presented Andrew and Avelo with a painting she created in honor of the anniversary. Congratulations to our friends and colleagues at Avelo Airlines!

On April 28, 2021, our first flight departed L.A.’s Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), introducing a new era of convenience, affordability, and reliability for millions of American travelers. Avelo Airlines took flight with a simple purpose – to Inspire Travel. Since then, we have fulfilled that mission for more than 4.6 million Customers who have experienced our money-saving low fares and time-saving convenience. We have come a long way. Avelo started with three Boeing Next-Generation (NG) 737s serving 11 West Coast destinations. Today, we have a fleet of 16 737 NGs serving 52 destinations and 77 routes spanning 23 states and Puerto Rico. Looking ahead, over the next two months we will inaugurate 17 new routes, including 10 new destinations. And on Wednesday, we will open our sixth base at the Bay Area’s Sonoma County Airport (STS), which Avelo has served as a destination since our inaugural flight. As we enter our fourth year, one of our proudest accomplishments is Avelo’s industry-leading operational reliability. In 2023, Avelo achieved the lowest flight cancellation rate (0.2%) in the U.S. airline industry and ranked #2 in on-time performance with 82.8% of all flights arriving at their destinations within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time – the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) standard metric for reporting on-time performance in the U.S. airline industry known as A14. Our outstanding reliability has contributed to two consecutive quarters of profitability and a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 50 over the past year. This is an excellent customer satisfaction score matched only by the world’s leading consumer brands. I am proud of what we have accomplished, but even more excited about what is next for Avelo. With more airplanes and destinations on the way, we will continue to fulfill our purpose for millions of new and returning Customers.   I want to thank all our Customers who have entrusted Avelo to get you where you want to go, safely, on time, and with your bags.   And finally, a huge Thank You to my 1,000 fellow Crewmembers. Our purpose at Avelo Airlines is to Inspire Travel. That includes inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals. Yesterday was the culmination of the Hollywood-Burbank Airport’s annual Airport Academy. The highlight of our partnership with BUR was flying 25 local high school students to the Bay Area’s Sonoma County Airport. A life-changing experience for many of these kids. It’s days like this that make the airline industry such a remarkable career for those of us lucky enough to work in it. Thank you Nerissa Sugars for your partnership!
