#AUKUS Connect in action! Benelec, a cornerstone of communication technology since 1978, is no stranger to pushing boundaries. Its expertise spans radio, marine, and even auto sectors, and now the company has set its sights on the stars. Partnering with the AUKUS Connect Program, Benelec Pty Ltd is spearheading the development of a revolutionary Low Earth Orbit (LEO) SATCOM terminal. This tech marvel promises to transform satellite communication, ensuring seamless connectivity across vast distances. Leading the Benelec charge is David Benchoam, a seasoned electrical engineer with over 30 years of experience and an extensive background in the mechanical and electrical design of antennas and radio systems. Joining him is distinguished Professor of Electromagnetic & Antenna Engineering, Karu Esselle, a world-renowned leader in telecommunications, defence, and space technologies. Together, this powerhouse duo boasts an impressive track record, including Esselle's recent Defence Eureka Prize win. Their collaborative effort, the LEO SATCOM terminal, recently became a finalist in the prestigious AusSpace24 Awards. Thanks to the AUKUS Forum Co-Chairs, former Defence Minister Hon. Joel Fitzgibbon GAICD and former US Ambassador The Hon. Arthur Sinodinos AO for joining us for the official launch of the AUKUS Guardians space taskforce. Mr Fitzgibbon emphasised the importance of this initiative, declaring, "If you're not in #space, you're not in the race!" He highlighted that space represents the future, converging with rapidly advancing technologies and immense commercial opportunities. AUKUS Forum CEO, Michael Sharpe announced the Chairman of the taskforce is Dr Jason Held, CEO of Saber Astronautics. AUKUS Guardians is structured to ensure balanced representation and expertise from all three #AUKUS nations, with former Australian Space Agency CTO, Aude Vignelles from Vignelles Space and Darin Lovett, Executive Director of iLAuNCH Trailblazer joining Dr. Held on the Australian leadership team while representatives from the US and UK are currently being considered.
