Today marks one week since we said “Farewell” to General Manager Balram “B” Bheodari, A.A.E, IAP as he retired from 22 years of service at ATL. As leader of the world’s busiest and most efficient airport, Bheodari oversaw all facets of Airport governance, including operations and a multibillion-dollar capital improvement program designed to pave the way for Atlanta’s growth over the next 20 years. His priorities were focused on three strategic pillars: People, Purpose, and Performance. Those pillars encompass a comprehensive safety and security platform, a robust customer experience program, a sustainable enterprise, healthy financial performance, an innovative technology framework, and completion of ATL’s critical capital program on schedule and within budget. As a retired Army aviator, Bheodari navigated ATL through the most challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, from drawdown to resumption of its expansive operations. In early 2009, Bheodari commissioned ATL’s first Operational Readiness and Transition (ORAT) team, which developed and implemented the activation plan for a consolidated Rental Car Center and the ATL SkyTrain automated people mover. Two years later, he expanded the ORAT team and spearheaded the 1.2-million-square-foot Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal opening, accommodating more than 12 million international travelers each year before the pandemic. Thank you, “B”. Fly ✈ high and remember that ATL is always your home! Andre Dickens AAAE

Yesterday, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) hosted the City of Atlanta CIO, Jason Sankey, and GeorgiaCIO for a behind-the-scenes tour of ATL. The day began with a warm welcome from leadership, followed by insightful presentations. As part of the tour, the group had an opportunity to visit the Concourse D expansion project and the airfield. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event a success. We look forward to many more collaborative experiences. ✈️ Chris Crist

Last week, we honored #EarthDay with action! 🌎 On April 19, ATL’s Community Affairs team, along with 14 stakeholder groups, brought together 82 participants to commemorate Earth Day through the ATLcares: Earth Day Flint River Cleanup initiative. After a morning of hard work, our Flint River is cleaner. The Flint River starts in northern Atlanta, flows beneath Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, and empties into the Gulf of Mexico 300 miles downstream. It is a source of pride and ownership for airport employees. ATLcares aligns with the Department of Aviation’s core values of being a 'good neighbor' to the communities ATL serves. ✈️ The crews collected 600 pounds of trash, which included 39 full large garbage bags, 7 tires, a metal pot, a plastic bin, and a car seat. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this possible.
