For just under 4 years I have been a Governor at my Kids’ school. For three of those years I have been the designated Governor for Safeguarding, which if not governed correctly, can result in the school failing its inspection (no pressure). On my birthday, of all days, I was called up to speak with OFSTED at the school’s most recent inspection. I’m pleased to say that the school received and Outstanding inspection and can’t praise the Leadership team and rest of the staff at the school. Being a Governor has been a great way to volunteer and further develop my strategic skills. I’d fully recommend people to look into what it entails as it’s so rewarding, especially at times like this! I’m also greatful to my employer Association of International Certified Professional Accountants who gave me the opportunity to (last minute) use a volunteering day to help out the school during the inspection. A slight delay to my Summer Fridays posts as I took a break to the south of France.
