Our African American ERG recently wrapped up the 3rd annual #AskBio Summer Immersion Program. This year we partnered with North Carolina Central University and Durham Technical Community College to introduce more than 50 junior and senior high school students from across North Carolina to a laboratory environment and careers in the biopharmaceutical industry. THANK YOU to all the volunteers from scientists to executives who have helped inspire more than 200 high school students during the past three years. Together, we can reimagine what is possible. #leadership #genetherapy

Our #AskBio team was privileged to work with 12 outstanding young individuals who helped make our summer intern program a success. During the next few weeks, we will share perspectives from each intern on one of the following questions: 1. What’s something new you learned during your internship? 2. How would you describe this experience to other students? 3. What was the most rewarding aspect of interning with AskBio? Up first are Claire O'Connor and Sofia Mejia to tell us about something new they learned this summer. #biotech #leadership #summerinterns #genetherapy

The UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and Research Ethics Committee (REC) have approved the design of #AskBio’s Phase 2 GenePHIT trial of AB-1002, a #genetherapy being developed for the treatment of congestive heart failure (CHF). With this MHRA and REC endorsement, patient recruitment in the UK can begin in the coming months. We announced earlier this year that GenePHIT was initiated in the U.S. and that the first patient was randomized. The trial is currently recruiting in the U.S. Additional information is available on clinicaltrials.gov (NCT#05598333). Congratulations to our #CHF team on the achievement of this important milestone for patients. The #AskBio Women's Leadership Initiative Employee Resource Group (WLI ERG) continues to unite our amazing female colleagues around topics that offer insight and inspiration. The ERG recently announced its first summer book club and is diving into "The Exceptions" by Kate Zernike. The book was selected as a compelling exploration of the history of the challenges women face in scientific research and development fields. Through the stories of remarkable women who defied expectations, the book delves into navigating professional obstacles, while highlighting how far the field has come in mere decades. At AskBio, we embrace diverse points of view and cultivate collaboration through shared learning experiences. What’s on your summer reading list? #WomenInBusiness #Leadership #BookClub #CultivateCollaboration

To honor #DisabilityPrideMonth, we recently held a virtual event to highlight the rich history and importance of disability pride within and outside our organization. Led by our colleagues James Aykit, Amanda Carson, and Caitlin Taroski, we delved into how disability drives innovation, the power of inclusive language and leadership, and actionable steps on how to be an ally. Diverse teams can reveal new, fresh, and accessible ideas that may help advance science. At #AskBio, we believe that embracing diversity, including disabilities, not only fosters a more inclusive environment but can also spark innovations in #genetherapy and beyond. A special thanks to everyone who participated and made this event a success. Together, we continue to pave the way for a more inclusive future where everyone’s unique contributions are valued. #InnovationThroughDiversity #DisabilityInclusion #CultivateCollaboration

With an employee base that is more than 50% female, the #AskBio Women's Leadership Initiative Employee Resource Group (WLI ERG) is one of our most widely engaged ERGs. This generates many employee-led ideas for supporting our workforce. One such idea was to develop a peer mentorship program. This program directly represents our Cultivate Collaboration value—to strive to be the best teammate, actively listen, openly communicate, and embrace diverse points of view. We recently kicked off the program, which introduced members to Peer Mentorship—a process connecting colleagues of similar experience and career or academic levels to work together to help each other grow. Participants gain a platform for mutual support and growth, shared learning, and collaborative problem-solving, as well as a forum to address unique challenges faced by women in the workplace. Stay tuned for other WLI ERG initiatives as we continue to support our employees by providing an environment where they can reach their fullest potential. #WomenInBusiness #Leadership #PeerMentorship #CultivateCollaboration

A successful internship program combines on-the-job training and time for building strong bonds with colleagues. Yesterday, on #NationalInternsDay, Sofia Mejia, a member of our 2024 class, and KaCie Willis (Lynk), from our Talent Acquisition Team, hosted a pop culture team-building trivia event for this year’s interns. This was a fun way to “Cultivate Collaboration,” which is a core #AskBio value, and bring the group closer together as they continue to learn about #genetherapy and emerging therapeutics for patients in need. #teamwork #values

#AskBio employees are on a mission to lead innovative science. For Holly Schroeder, PhD from our Gene Editing team, this translates into the opportunity to make a significant contribution and impact on the relatively “young” field of #genetherapy and gene editing. Watch to learn more from Holly and visit https://lnkd.in/ejPBtp8 to explore opportunities in gene therapy. Let’s make history together.

We recently announced our new Volunteer Time Off (VTO) program, providing two days each year for employees to volunteer and make a difference. Our Finance Team proudly kicked off the program with an event at Rise Against Hunger. Over 50 employees gathered at the Raleigh, NC warehouse to package 10,000 meals, fostering team spirit and significantly impacting global hunger relief. OUR IMPACT: 10,000 meals were sent to Madagascar, an island nation off the southeastern coast of Africa, which is home to over 28 million people. The nation faces high rates of poverty, food insecurity, and chronic malnutrition. Jenny Siferd, SPHR, Talent Attraction, emphasized, “Volunteering for a good cause boosts mental health, teaches valuable skills, provides a greater sense of purpose, and brings more fulfillment into our lives.” Anand Thaker from Accounting and Tax reflected, “Volunteering with our cross-functional colleagues truly highlighted the power of collective effort. When we act as ONE team, we deliver exceptional results, build meaningful relationships, and make a tangible difference in the community.” We’re excited to see how others will use their VTO to keep this momentum going. We’re excited to share that AB-1005, which is being developed for moderate Parkinson’s disease, received US FDA Fast Track and UK MHRA Innovation Passport designations. There's a huge unmet need for #Parkinson's treatment, and these designations take us another step closer to accelerating access for patients. We at #AskBio, alongside Bayer | Pharmaceuticals, are dedicated to providing patients with innovative therapies and, most importantly, improving patient outcomes. #genetherapy For Medical Media – Read our press release here: https://lnkd.in/g7Mr854f
