Shining a spotlight on one of our amazing AU students and ambassadors! Teresa Pereira has completed all of our AU courses and has been a great vocal supporter of AU. How did you get into the industry? 🗣️: "During my professional internship - where I was working in process automation using Nintex - I felt like I had hit a plateau. So, I decided to apply to other companies, including two of the Big 4. I was accepted at both of the Big 4 firms; however, at one of them, I felt that in the area I would be joining - Cybersecurity - I could broaden my horizons and learn more than in any other area. And I wasn't wrong - cybersecurity is a vast and constantly evolving world." How have you seen the cybersecurity industry evolve? 🗣️: "Since I started my career in cybersecurity, attackers have been employing increasingly sophisticated methods. While security in companies is improving, it's not advancing at the same pace as attackers' techniques. Additionally, we always have to consider that no matter how much technological security exists within companies, humans are the weakest link when it comes to cybersecurity." What is the most important thing you have learned about API security? 🗣️: "It's relatively easy to find and exploit vulnerabilities in an API, as companies still prioritize the user interface over what powers it: the APIs. Once a vulnerability is successfully exploited in the API, we find a gold mine because we have direct access to the data source."
