Happy 115th Birthday to the A2AC! On January 22, 1909, the Ann Arbor Art Association (later to be the A2AC) was formed by a group of local art enthusiasts and University of Michigan architecture students who wished to further their talents and interests by collaborating with likeminded people in the community through exhibitions and lectures, for which the Association provided many until the University created its own Museum of Art in 1946. At that point, the organization adjusted its activities "to further the welfare of art in the city of Ann Arbor," as stated in its Constitution, and has continued to do so ever since. Stay tuned this year as we shine a light on this historic anniversary. #AnnArbor, thank you for supporting us for the last 115 years. Here's to 115 more! Excerpts include information from the Ann Arbor Art Association Records, 1909-1969.
