Connecting communities through the preservation, education, and innovation of Cambodian Performing Arts.
About us
Angkor Dance Troupe was established in November 1986 when Tim Thou and a passionate group of Cambodian refugees came together in Lowell, Massachusetts with the sole purpose to revive a culture once almost lost. As the heart of the Cambodian Community, the Angkor Dance Troupe is nationally recognized as one of the most accomplished and experienced U.S. - based Cambodian traditional arts organizations. We envision Lowell, Massachusetts to be the epicenter for Cambodian performing arts with the Angkor Dance Troupe at the core. To achieve this vision, our goal is to certify 10 new master teachers to continue the legacy of Cambodian culture and arts. Through cultural exchanges and programs including dance, music, and Khmer Language class, students will learn how to explain the history and stories of the Cambodian people through the power of facial/body language, musical composition, and lyrical speech.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Paul Huot to our Board of Directors! Paul is a first generation Cambodian-American who earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. As the first engineer in his family, he has helped design air control systems for buildings like hospitals and university labs to help construct electric motors for some of the most advanced fighting machines for the U.S. Navy. He's had the pleasure and privilege of working in different roles and industries, meeting people from many walks of life. Some of whom took the time to mentor him in what they do, showed him what they enjoyed and didn't enjoy, and some who he has formed close friendships with. However, Paul has always wanted to do something that gives back to the community that he grew up in. He hopes to be a mentor, share and preserve Cambodian culture, and help guide the next generation in finding their own journey. Paul's expertise and passion will be invaluable as we continue to grow and make a positive impact. We look forward to his contributions and leadership. Please join us in welcoming him to the ADT team! #ADTLowell

Angkor Dance Troupe’s partnership with the Butler Middle School goes back a long way. For 30 years, hundreds of students would participate annually in a 2-3 month long dance residency to learn traditional Cambodian dance, and perform in front of their family and peers for their Cambodian New Year Celebration. On May 24th, we are proud and excited to have everyone join us for a remarkable performance showcasing the commitment and hard work of our dedicated students and staff!
