For students of color to thrive in the classroom, they need to see themselves represented in their teachers and role models. As a Commonwealth, we have an opportunity to ensure we are building the next generation of diverse educators who can transform the experience of students of color by passing the Educator Diversity Act this session. “Latino prosperity is American prosperity. And so when you have a significant portion of the population that does not have equitable access to opportunities, that’s a missed opportunity for the economy at large.” Our CEO, Eneida Roman, recently shared her insights with Boston Globe Media about the vital importance of supporting Latino business owners here in Massachusetts. At Amplify Latinx, we’re dedicated to empowering the Latine community, whose work is essential to advancing economic mobility in the Commonwealth. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eeaHjEgb

The Hispanic community increased our total revenue in 2023 over 2022 by 50% to over $114 billion. Hispanic-owned business now account for 31% of all National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC)-certified minority business enterprise (MBE) revenues and rank number one in annual revenue generation. From the report: "Hispanic businesses led the way in the construction industry, where they accounted for over $32 billion in total revenues and created over 100,000 jobs. This growth was fueled in part by infrastructure projects currently being funded through historic investments by state and federal governments made possible by landmark legislation like the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA)." What happens when you design across organizations and with a bunch of Latines in Boston? A couple of months ago, Betty Francisco invited me in a community effort to design the Latine/x Startup Hub Tour Pitch Competition. This pitch competition was a part of Amplify LatinX’s ALX Business Summit co-chaired by Senator Warren and Senator Markey. As an ecosystem builder and investor, what I appreciated about the design: ⭐ How Inicio partnered funded ecosystem builders around the country to design programming to support Latine founders in their communities ⭐ How Amplify LatinX and Boston Impact Initiative Impact Initiative then included and engaged Northeast + Massachusetts ecosystem builders across organizations to guide the design, meeting weekly behind the scenes Monica Hinojos-Capes Marisa Nieves Samalid Hogan Roxanna Sarmiento… ⭐ How this pitch competition was focused not only on startups, but also on micro and SME businesses, Latine entrepreneurs are stewarding the US economy, and this includes businesses across sizes… Congratulations to the entrepreneurs who pitched and received funding Omze Authentic Tequila Merge-Tek MANKA FOODS LLC EcoAuto Early Intervention Systems (Techstars ‘23) I had fun meeting judges Elke Trilla Adrian Mendoza Ignacio Castro Samalid Hogan Gisella Soriano @Grace as well as the Inicio team Jorge M. Calderon Monica Martens Jacob (Jake) Lefker, MBA And thank you to friends like Nathalia Moran who always shows up I look forward to seeing future evolutions with funding for ecosystem builders as well as founders.
