Modern neuroscience supports the Eastern view, showing that the left brain creates narratives that interpret reality. Perhaps we can't find the self in the brain because it isn't there. About us
Based in Arlington, Texas, American Mensa is an organization open to anyone who scores in the top 2 percent on an accepted, standardized intelligence test. In addition to interacting online, members attend local and national events, join special interest groups that range from astronomy to yoga, and help out in their communities. The organization has more than 50,000 members in the United States and its protectorates. Mensa's purposes are: 1) to identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity; 2) to encourage research into the nature, characteristics, and uses of intelligence; and 3) to provide a stimulating intellectual and social environment for its members.

One of the things I do is chair the Leadership Development Committee within American Mensa. Traditionally, this has meant helping Mensa leaders do Mensa things. Last year, we expanded what leadership development can look like to include skills that can be used in everyday life. This is the second year of the Level Up! program, where Mensans can learn leadership from industry experts. I'm so excited about the program for next week's Annual Gathering. Making Time to Develop Your People with Care and Candor with Joshua Moore on Wednesday Turning Vision Into Value with Kacey Felila Tolua on Thursday Care of Self and Others with Corwin A. Thomas on Friday Creating Organizational Culture with Amber Vanderburg on Saturday morning Creating and Communicating a Shared Vision with Ash Coleman Hynie on Saturday afternoon It's going to be a fantastic set of talks, and I hope you'll join us in person in Kansas City! #levelup #americanmensa #ag2024
