Robotic technology, widely utilized in hip and knee surgery, has spurred discussions regarding its application in shoulder arthroplasty. Although not currently available commercially for the shoulder joint, its rapid development suggests that robotic-assisted shoulder surgery is forthcoming.

Does humeral component version matter in RTSA? In this months Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Wiater and colleagues conducted a randomized clinical trial comparing RTSA placed in neutral version and 30 degrees retroversion, demonstrating no difference in any outcome including both internal and external rotation, suggesting both degrees of version result in equivalently good outcomes with RTSA.
