A HUGE thank you to the 60+ volunteers who joined us at Terminal 91 on Tuesday for a picture perfect day of net recycling. We plowed through two full midwater pollock nets, along with 10 supersacks of ghost gear recovered from the Bering Sea. We separated (and will recycle) 20,000 lbs of single material plastics, ~5,000 lbs of steel, and a TBD amount of mixed plastics for energy recovery. Despite the fishy smell, sore backs and nicked up hands, this was analog sustainability at its finest!
