#HereForYou Spotlight: Today we’re shining a light on Michelle Chavez of Swire Coca-Cola, USA in Wilsonville, Ore. Michelle is her facility’s “Community Champion,” a designation held by individuals at each Swire Coca-Cola location who lead their team in showing up for their community through volunteering and events. This April, Michelle led her team in a day of volunteering alongside leaders from local environmental nonprofit, SOLVE to help clean up trash and prevent litter from entering our waterways. The clean-up was one of many events Swire Coca-Cola’s network of community champions led around the country to give back to the planet this April. “It’s not just about hitting goals and numbers… Swire Coca-Cola has a very strong commitment to our local community,” said Michelle. We continue to be proud of the impact America’s beverage companies and their dedicated team members have on their local community. Follow our #HereForYou stories to see how members of our industry are stepping up to be there when it’s needed most. www.HereForYou.us

Recycling contamination levels have decreased by over 20% in Jacksonville, Fla., thanks to an #EveryBottleBack project with The Recycling Partnership and local beverage companies. Less contamination means more of our industry's valuable, recyclable plastic bottles and aluminum cans can be remade into new ones as intended. Jacksonville City Council President Ron Salem and Florida Beverage Association's Elizabeth DeWitt penned a piece in The Florida Times-Union I Jacksonville.com to share how collaboration was critical to the project's success. Today, the repeal of West Virginia's 71-year-old beverage tax officially goes into effect. Eliminating the beverage tax offers much needed relief to working families and small businesses in the state, which the tax fell hardest on. There is a better way: America's beverage companies are offering more choices with less sugar than ever before to support families in their efforts to reduce sugar, and Americans are taking advantage of these choices. Nearly 60% of beverages sold today have zero sugar. And, with our voluntary Clear on Calories effort, we're providing clear calorie information on the front of every can, bottle and pack we sell, so consumers have the information to make the choice that's right for them - right at their fingertips. We applaud the West Virginia Beverage Association and its members for their efforts to repeal this tax, and the state legislature for their historic action. 👏 https://lnkd.in/eDQ_6-H4 William Swann
