We launched The Chewy Veterinary Leaders Program (CVL) with the hopes of creating a scholarship program that offered a holistic experience—with peer support, mentorship, and leadership growth opportunities, in addition to financial support. Last week, we hosted our first CVL cohort at Chewy HQ and we got to see our CVL vision come to life. With a cohort like this, investing in the next generation of #VetMed is a no-brainer! Thank you to every student who came out to spend some time with us. And thank you to our partners at American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges for helping to make such an impactful program a reality. #ChewyHealth #AAVMC #VetMed #VeterinaryStudents #VeterinaryEducation #VeterinaryMedicine #Mentorship

It’s been surreal. I haven’t personally shared with many people apart from those who recognized me for it at my academic institution mostly because I had a sense of guilt and imposter syndrome that I got this scholarship and others didn’t and whether I felt qualified to receive it. It’s finally settled in that it’s okay to be proud of yourself and your accomplishments. In March, I was one of 15 students selected to be chosen for the Chewy Veterinary Leaders Program and to receive a $20,000 scholarship. Fifteen people out of the thousands of students in veterinary medicine, and I was chosen as one of them. This program is so much more than just a scholarship though. It’s support. Not just financially but also mentally and socially. Let me share with you the authenticity and genuineness that comes with the prestigious award and the level of intentionality that went into this. This program provides the following: - $20,000 Scholarship - MentorVet Monthly Mentorship Meetings - Chewy Account Discount - MentorVet LEAP Scholarship - VetPrep NAVLE Test Prep - NAVLE PowerPrep Boot Camp - A visit to Chewy Headquarters where a series of leadership and development speakers were brought in to help provide an opportunity to grow as a leader in veterinary medicine - A lifetime of connections And to think that’s not even everything that this scholarship and program has done for me. Because of this opportunity, I was able to invest in more reliable transportation this year to travel and do externships and fully immerse myself into the veterinary community. On top of that, it also offered me the chance to resume and hopefully complete by next year my Masters of Business Administration that I began prior to admitting to veterinary school. Most notably, it brought me together with some of the most amazing leaders within our profession and also phenomenal future leaders that I get to work and grow alongside over this lifetime. I can’t even begin to express the level of gratitude I have for Chewy Health and American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges for providing me with all of these opportunities and to give me the opportunity to not only be my most authentic self but to grow as a human and leader. I also am beyond grateful for the mentors and leadership team at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine for nominating me for such an honor! To say that my world has changed drastically in the last year, would be an understatement. I can’t thank Dr. Katy Johnson Nelson, Kelly O'Brien, Rachelle Menn, and the rest of the Chewy Team enough for such an amazing experience already! I decided to share a few pictures from our trip to Fort Lauderdale and how close we all became just in a matter of days. The future is bright! Chewy Health
