We had a great time in NYC last week - thank you to everyone involved. From the BattleFin AltData conference on the USS Intrepid to a private event co-hosted with 360 One Group and reconnecting with our friends at AYU (Hedge Fund and Family Office Network), we met many entrepreneurs and investors alike all collaborating with one another to build new companies / investment opps and change the world. Great event hosted by SVRN and Velvet for Milken Institute!
Last night SVRN and Velvet hosted our Milken Investor Soirée with over 200 family offices and founders at the Casa Lago Estate in Beverly Hills. At our reception, Albert Hill, Charlotte Zhang, Nelson Del Rio Jr, and Evan Renov led a roundtable discussion on the responsibility of capital in shaping the future, and it was quite interesting to hear the perspectives of the next generation of family office investors. We were so pleased to see relationships being built among our guests as founders connected with families and friends connected with friends. Later on, our panelists Heidi Roddenberry (The Roddenberry Foundation), Darren Ma (Firefly Aerospace), and David Shapiro (OPEN) discussed their views on infrastructure in investment and technology, and I closed the discussion by highlighting our framework for community infrastructure. You can build a great community by first considering your "Why." For SVRN, it is to create the community layer for the venture ecosystem. Then, consider your "Who." Our community is built for founders and family offices, with clear criteria around professional and personal alignment. Finally, you can determine the "What." The features we focus on are events, digital platform, curated connections, and knowledge sharing. Features must all tie back to delivering the Why for the Who. After the panel, the dancers came out and the party continued until midnight.
