This week, the ACI team and volunteers from member companies are helping to close the workforce gap and increase diversity in commercial construction through special camp programming for the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio. With guidance from experts, campers will expand the outdoor stage and rebuild theater seating at Camp Whip Poor Will. Thanks to Trade31 MESSER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY INC and Turner Construction Company (esp Dawn Yates,CHST, seen here giving the safety orientation) for getting the week off to a great start! Thank you, Spirit of Construction Foundation for making workforce solutions a priority. The year-round K-12 programming that this grant supports makes a lasting impact in our community and certainly on our industry. Thank you for believing in ACI and the work we do. Below: ACI Executive Director Jordan Vogel accepting the grant on behalf of the ACI team.
We're proud to highlight Allied Construction Industries, a grant recipient. In May, ACI's Construction Career Days had an epic turnout with 3,265 students from 65 schools, 76 exhibitors, and 56 VIP tour attendees. Additionally, 253 student VIPs were available for hire, resulting in 180 interviews and 50 anticipated hires. ACI also partners with the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden for a 6-week construction internship, where students gain hands-on experience with tools, carpentry, welding, electrical work, soft skills, and safety training. Workforce development educational programs like these inspire the next generation of construction workers. We're excited to see the impact of the Cincinnati Zoo internship students later this summer!
