About us
The Allegheny Conference on Community Development works with public & private sector leadership to improve the Pittsburgh region's economic future and quality of life. Founded in 1944, the Allegheny Conference is one of the nation's leading economic and community development organizations, combining strong private sector leadership with commitment from public sector partners to move solutions to challenges forward. Our strategic focus is creating a more competitive business climate and marketing the Pittsburgh region for business investment and job creation as well as to attract talent. The Conference relies on the investment of more than 300 companies and organizations (our Regional Investors Council) to provide time, talent and resources to advancing the Pittsburgh region. The Conference comprises three affiliates, each focusing on a core function: the Pennsylvania Economy League of Greater Pittsburgh (research and analysis), the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce (advocacy and public policy) and the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance (business and talent attraction marketing). The $500 million PA SITES program passed in the 2024-2025 Pennsylvania budget provides a major new tool to spur development investment throughout the Pittsburgh region and the state. It will position Pennsylvania to be more competitive than ever when it comes to pad-ready sites that enable projects – including those needing large parcels – to get up out of the ground and do so quickly thanks to significant reforms to permitting legislation. "It’s really an historic investment … allowing the state to work in a very fast and flexible manner,” said Allegheny Conference Chief Growth Officer Matt Smith, who oversees economic development efforts on behalf of the 10-county Pittsburgh region. https://lnkd.in/e2N6TF5P
