Last week, the Allegheny County Housing Authority was honored to receive the Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) grant from The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. At the acceptance ceremony, representatives from the ACHA were able to hear from one of our current residents of Mapleview Terrace, who aids in creating an outlet for fellow residents to obtain clean air filters for their homes and will be pursuing their degree at Howard University in the Fall of 2024. Also, at the ceremony, one of June’s FSS program graduates received their check for more than $18,000 to put towards their new home! Representatives from UPMC also spoke on the new partnership with them and our Community-Based Care Management Program and, more specifically, how the social determinants of health are being spotlighted at the ACHA. Finally, the Allegheny County Housing Authority was honored to have Richard Monocchio (Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing (PDAS)), Matthew Heckles (Regional Administrator of HUD), and Michael Horvath (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Field Office Director) present this award. The ACHA would also like to extend a special thank you to all of our partners who play such an integral role in supporting our initiative.

We had the pleasure of hosting Regional Administrator for HUD Region 3, Matthew Heckles and HUD Pittsburgh Field Office Director, Michael Horvath, alongside Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato and Sara’s newest team member, Ed Nusser who is the Director of Housing Initiatives.
