One year. Hundreds of pounds of trash picked up. And one very clean beach. Last year we adopted the East End Beach, and each month since a group of volunteers from Allagash has been cleaning up any trash from this little sandy strip of paradise—a short walk away from downtown Portland. Every piece of trash we picked up—from styrofoam to microplastics—has been cataloged for our friends at the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation to develop pollution prevention initiatives and keep the Gulf of Maine clean and pristine.

What an opportunity to collaborate with—and tap into—the great minds at Kellogg for insights into our current (and future) customers. We couldn’t have partnered with a more thoughtful, engaging, and talented group of students.
Let's raise a glass to toast a successful Ethnographic Customer Insights course! These Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management students shared their final presentations to the Allagash Brewing Company. Jeff Pillet-Shore, we appreciate your partnership, mentorship, and free swag this quarter. From Kellogg with love!

How do you measure, measure a year? Turns out, you just look at the numbers. And we have some impressive, uplifting, and simply funny numbers that defined 2023 for us. A few examples: 1,895,585 - pounds of Maine-grown grain we brewed with, a 25.9% increase over 2022 11 - number of chilis entered into our annual employee chili cook-off 1,322 - number of hours of volunteer time our employees completed 164 - number of paws that visited us during our Holiday Pet Pics day 1 - number of shawarma rotisseries fabricated by our engineering team out of a discarded keg To see the whole list, just check out our blog post: https://lnkd.in/ea-JBeKX

Our friends at Indigo Arts Alliance amplify the voices of Black and Brown artists in Maine and beyond. They’ve partnered with us in many ways in the past, but our worlds are colliding in particularly fun ways this month. Not only is Indigo our tasting room’s Charitable Partner in February, but they also hooked us up with their former Artist in Residence, Carl Joe Williams, to create this gorgeous label for Verb. This saison with lemon verbena represents our tasty collaboration with Montclair Brewing, and it’s only available in our tasting room—right now—prior to its limited distribution in New Jersey in March. Cheers to good friends and great partners!

We always knew we had a special team here at the brewery, but this past week has proven just how special. A member of our packaging team, Harun Laleli, is also a member of the Cape Elizabeth Water Extrication team. And this past Saturday morning, Harun and his team’s incredible efforts led to a water rescue worthy of the news. We’re proud to have Harun here at Allagash, and thankful for his selfless efforts to help keep more Mainers safe. https://lnkd.in/eAtW3a6z (Thanks to The Portland Press Herald for their coverage of the story.)

Good news: We have a new seasonal beer called Surf House. It’s a super-crisp lager that we dry hop for subtle tropical notes. And it’ll be arriving on shelves widely across our footprint in just a couple of months. More good news: Surf House is a finalist for the Good Food Foundation Good Food Awards. This competition is all about highlighting food (including beer) that is, in their words: tasty, authentic, and responsible. We couldn’t be more excited to be in good company as a finalist alongside these other incredible Maine businesses: 44 North Coffee Bixby Chocolate Coffee By Design Maine Beer Company Speckled Ax Turtle Rock Farm And we can’t wait to share this tasty, refreshing, and crushable lager with you!
