How Did Weber Specialties Increase Throughput, Improve Accuracy? AIDA Servo Presses Weber Specialties Company, a stamper and specialty manufacturer in Kalamazoo County, MI, benefits in many ways from their AIDA servo presses. Their latest, an AIDA 330 US ton straightside DSF-N2-AB servo press, replaced an older, lower tonnage mechanical press. It utilizes about the same amount of floorspace but gives them more versatility. Learn more about Weber’s increased production, better part accuracy, and increased tool life, amongst other improvements, in this recent FFJournal Magazine article by Lynn Stanley. Participants Gather at AIDA-America for Educational Seminars and Technology Demonstrations: AIDA-America welcomed representatives from 40 companies in the US, Canada, and Mexico for the 2024 Servo Symposium. This two-day by invitation only educational event was held on June 5 and 6. Metal stampers from a variety of industries gained information on topics ranging from Industry 4.0, servo press design, development, and applications, as well as cost justifications. Participants also viewed multiple interactive servo press demonstrations. Presses on display included a DSF-C1-1500A, 150 ton gap frame servo press, DSF-N2-3000AB, 300 ton unitized frame servo press, and DSF-M2-6300, 630 ton servo press. Each press featured Allen-Bradley control systems specifically designed to meet the needs of North American manufacturers A complete tour of AIDA-America’s 180,000 square foot facility was a highlight for many attendees. AIDA-America remains the only stamping press manufacturer in North America with the capabilities to design, build, service, and support servo presses up to 3,500 tons. AIDA-America’s Servo Symposium provides an opportunity for those in the manufacturing industry to learn about important technology trends, their impact on operational efficiency, and how to best partner with equipment suppliers to achieve organizational goals. #aidapresses #manufacturing #metalstamping #metalforming #technolgy #education

Steve Easterling, Senior Operations Manager at AIDA-America shared, “It was a pleasure to work with this Cedarville University Operations team. With very little guidance and instruction, they were able to complete a Value Stream Map for the stamping presses we build here in Dayton, Ohio. This gives us a great tool to help identify bottlenecks and pinchpoints going forward. I wish them all the best of luck in their future endeavors!” Chris Tsibouris, Mechanical Engineer at AIDA-America added, “I enjoyed the opportunity to meet Maria, Braden, Cameron, Frederick, and Sam and see their work come to completion. They were personable, hardworking and intuitive, and quickly assessed a wealth of information to deliver an ergonomic solution to our needs. I greatly appreciated their efforts and wish them all the best!” Thank you for your work and congratulations, Maria Martinez, Sam Dietsch, Cameron DeWesse, Fredrick Grunenwald, and Braden Coffey! #operations #teamwork #kaizen #valuestreammaps #spaghettimap #aidapresses #manufacturing
Chief Executive Officer of Crowned Chains | Senior Operations Management major at Cedarville University
This morning, I completed the capstone course for my degree concentration in Operations! I had the honor of leading our team project at AIDA-America. My team and I analyzed a handful of processes for them, creating Value Stream Maps and a Spaghetti Map of their facility as a way to highlight potential bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and waste. We presented our work and findings to their team and offered some next steps for them as they seek to implement the kaizen philosophy into their plant. Working with you, Steve Easterling, and Chris Tsibouris, on this project was such a sweet opportunity. Thank you for allowing us to apply what we've learned this semester at AIDA. I was blessed with a diligent, hardworking, and incredibly fun crew to complete this project: Sam Dietsch, Cameron DeWeese, Fredrick Grunenwald, and Braden Coffey. Thankful for each one of you and the insight and joy you brought to the team! Thank you, Alina Leo, MBA, LSSBB (IASSC), for your dedication to teaching us not only the concepts and principles, but the application of them through this project.
