This year, we are lucky to have two student interns working alongside our team, Kelly Crous & Makayla Learned have been hard at work in their internships and college education as they prepare for future careers. Kelly Crous is a Finance Intern originally from Durban, South Africa, but currently based in New York. She is a sophomore at Canisius University pursuing a dual major in Accounting and Finance. As a finance intern, Kelly works closely with the finance team on procurement projects, ERP mapping, data organization in Excel spreadsheets, and research accounting and taxation of carbon credits. "I have learned a variety of things such as how to use ERP systems and how to map them, how to create use pivot tables and charts, figuring out why variances may occur between ERP system and Salesforce and correct them, I have done a presentation for the finance team and CFO ( public speaking) and organizing data and contracts for quick access for the finance team. I have also learned that in a start-up, you need to be flexible as things adapt quickly, and you must be willing to adapt too." Raised in East Central Illinois, Makayla Learned is a Senior at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, completing her bachelor's in Agriculture Communications with a minor in Animal Sciences. As a Marketing Intern, she collaborates closely with our marketing team, agronomists, and producers. Her role involves managing U.S. social media platforms, assisting with global content, and capturing post-performance data. Makayla has also had the opportunity to travel across multiple states, photographing and documenting stories of our carbon producers. “During my internship, I expanded my skills in branding, data performance, and communications in the marketing field. I am excited about pursuing a career in marketing and advertising and hope to continue incorporating agriculture into it. The internship also deepened my understanding of carbon credits and how they can be applied in the agricultural sector. Although my role focused on marketing, I had the opportunity to visit ranches and farms across the country that implement sustainable practices and allowed me to receive these experiences have enriched my knowledge of sustainable agriculture, which I aim to incorporate into my future as a cattle producer.” #NationalInternDay
