At Aeon, we know that doing the same old thing won’t get us new results. We’re committed to learning and innovating – and we are leveraging our connections with educational partners, such as the Harvard Real Estate Advisory Board (HREAB), to do so. Partnerships like these bring new insights and support of our housing development efforts. This year, the Harvard School of Design launched its first-ever master’s in Real Estate program. The Practicum element of this program partners master’s students with real estate companies across the country to bring learning from the classroom into the real world. Aeon is proud to be one of the partner organizations in the first year of this program’s existence. This summer, Aeon is hosting practicum student Etta Madete. "It is an honor to be selected to work with Aeon for Harvard's' practicum fellowship. I will be working with the housing development department and supporting the teams' efforts in development proposals, funding applications and sustainability strategies. Alongside this I will also spend time with the team at all operational levels as well as interact with the company's projects to learn from and understand first-hand what it takes to truly deliver and manage affordable housing not only at scale, but with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles in mind." Aeon’s President and CEO, Dr. Eric Anthony Johnson, is himself an alumnus of HREAB and knows that programs like these help us bring new, innovative ideas beyond the classroom. O'Shia was recently the recipient of a nice gesture from an HP Resident with this Certificate of Appreciation. This is a true testament to how O’Shia relates to the residents there. "O’Shia truly has a heart for service and for making HP a great place to live and work! She’s not deterred by the challenges, in fact, she thrives on them. Overall, O’Shia just “gets it”. She has the ability to hear an idea, see the big picture and turn the idea into reality." Jim Dudley - Portfolio Director

Aeon was founded in 1986 to produce 350 affordable apartments to house Minneapolis residents who would be displaced in the process of building the Minneapolis Convention Center. Our first development, Buri Manor, provided 38 homes for low-wage workers. Driven by our vision that everyone deserves a home, Aeon’s portfolio has grown to 60 properties, that 17,500 neighbors call “home” today.

Creating “home” goes beyond bricks and mortar. At Aeon, we see the power that outdoor community spaces can have on fostering connection and a sense of belonging among neighbors. This week, volunteers from Two Harbors Investment Corp. joined Aeon staff and residents of Aeon’s Sienna Green property to transform an overgrown field into a space where residents can come together to create a community garden - a vehicle to grow healthy foods and connections! A special thanks to Roseville Area Community Foundation and Two Harbors for supporting the community garden through contributions of time, talent and treasure. Sienna Green is a multi-family housing community with 170 apartments and nearly 500 residents. Aeon acquired the property in 2006 and expanded it in 2012 to meet the needs of the Roseville community. All of Sienna Green’s homes are affordable for households at or below 50% of the area median income (AMI), and 31 homes are reserved for residents coming out of homelessness or with incomes below 30% AMI.
