We’re excited to celebrate our client Brause Realty Inc. Realty, Inc. on the grand opening of the completely rebuilt amenity spaces at The Brewster Building, 27-01 Queens Plaza North in Long Island City, Queens!  This extensive renovation has added and transformed the amenity spaces into collaborative, relaxing and invigorating working environments designed to last for generations to come. The Brewster Building was transformed into an office building in 2000 thru a complete overhaul performed by Brause Realty, Gensler, Jaros, Baum & Bolles and AECOM Tishman. In 2003 the same team opened a 13-story addition to the Brewster Building. Now in 2024 the same team again added modern-day amenities including: ✅ A stunning renovation of its two lobbies   ✅ A state-of-the-art conference center ✅ A vibrant food hall with different food concepts ✅ A fully equipped fitness center  ✅ A relaxing lounge and landscaped roof terrace with breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline ✅ Bike storage, locker rooms and showers We are proud to have been part of this amazing project and excited that these new spaces will inspire and enhance the experience for all tenants at The Brewster Building. We are excited to announce that Senior Vice President of Civil/Structural Engineering Allan Paull has been honored with the inaugural Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY) SIPA award. This prestigious award recognizes individuals not currently practicing structural engineering but who have significantly contributed to the field or provided outstanding support to SEAoNY. With more than 45 years of construction experience, Allan, a licensed structural engineer, leads his team at AECOM Tishman in reviewing project documentation and providing analysis and alternative structural considerations that lower costs and reduce schedule durations. His expertise has been instrumental in the construction of numerous landmark projects in New York City, including One Vanderbilt, the Gilder Center at the American Museum of Natural History, the Manhattan West Development, and the New Terminal One at JFK. Allan also serves as the Vice President of the Building Contractors Association (BCA) in NYC and is a member of the New York City DOB Advisory Council. Introducing the SIPA Award! The SEAoNY Board is pleased to announce the new SEAoNY Industry Partner Award, given to an individual currently not practicing structural engineering but who has provided significant contributions to the structural engineering field or who has provided outstanding support to SEAoNY. Our mission is to advance the art of structural engineering by building a community of colleagues, sharing knowledge, advocating for the profession, and promoting public safety. We would not be able to achieve this aim without our partners in the AEC industry. The inaugural award is presented to Mr. Allan Paull, Senior Vice President of Civil/Structural Engineering at AECOM Tishman. Allan is responsible for the overall review and oversight of structural design and construction for all AECOM Tishman projects nationally. A licensed structural engineer with 45 years of experience in construction, Allan and his team review project documentation and provide analysis and alternative structural considerations that can lower cost and reduce schedule durations. He has helped realize many notable projects in New York City. Recent projects include One Vanderbilt, 270 Park Avenue, Gilder Center at American Museum of Natural History, Manhattan West Development, and the New Terminal One at JFK.   Under his leadership, Tishman has been a long-time sustaining member of SEAoNY and an early supporter of our publication, Cross Sections. Last year during our Strategic Planning process, he provided valuable insight on the future of our profession. Allan is also the Vice President of the Building Contractors Association (BCA) in NYC, and a member of the New York City DOB Advisory Council. SEAoNY would like to thank Allan for his strong support over the years and for his contribution to our field. We are very pleased to present him with the 2024 SIPA Award at our Annual Boat Cruise and Structural Engineering Excellence Awards Dinner tonight.

This week in our Building Repositioning Series, we're shining a spotlight on the 555 Greenwich+345 Hudson.   This unique project encompasses the renovation of selected areas of 345 Hudson, a 17-story, 980,000 SF, 1931-vintage masonry office building, and new construction of 555 Greenwich, an innovative 16-story, 264,430 SF commercial office building. Designed to be one of the most sustainable commercial properties in the city, 555 Greenwich was devised to exceed New York City’s 2030 climate targets for office buildings by more than 45% and meet New York State’s 2050 carbon neutral targets. More than compliant with Local Law 154, the building is fully electric and eliminates on-site use of fossil fuels while reducing annual electrical usage by 40% and saving 1.5 million gallons of water per year.   As we delve into the narratives behind New York City's most striking building repositioning endeavors, we extend an invitation for you to join us on this transformative journey.
