Read a new story from #ClimateHomeNews about the importance of locally led adaptation (LLA) and the innovative ways the Adaptation Fund (AF) has been applying its principles for some time. AF pioneered its first enhanced direct access projects in 2014, taking its pioneering direct access modality a step further in empowering national institutions to identify and fund local adaptation projects. This April 2024, it took an added step by creating dedicated finance streams to support LLA, making it the first multilateral climate fund that has fully operationalized the global LLA principles. “The Adaptation Fund has a rich history of innovating and evolving to respond to countries’ urgent adaptation needs,” said AF Head Mikko Ollikainen.
