The Acumed Fibula and Forearm Nail 2 System is intended for the fixation of fractures and osteotomies of the fibula and ulna, including fractures where the medullary canal is narrow or flexibility of the implant is paramount. The Fibula Nail 2 offers the option to lock the nail proximally, providing additional fixation within the canal. Dr. Moon demonstrates both the implantation of the nail and the Optional Tip-Loc Bushing and Set Screw. Charles Moon, MD, thank you for your instruction and expertise! https://lnkd.in/eNq_n8B2

🤝 At Acumed, we love learning from and interacting with our international users and teams. 🌍 15 Indonesian surgeons gathered to learn more about our solutions for upper and lower extremities, as well as trauma, in our recent lab. ✨ Organized by Mandy Lin, our APAC International Marketing Manager, and Alaine Gee, Tradeshow and Events Manager, the event was a huge success with lots of positive feedback from attendees. 🙏 We are especially thankful for the guidance of Dr. Ishan Oesman and Dr. Bramantya Karna during the lab and case presentations. #medicaleducation #acumed #extremityexperts

On the note of fibular nails. Patient referred after a failed ORIF. The medial malleolar fixation in particular failed. Fibular fixation was short and it was difficult to assess length/rotation with it in place. So everything had to come out. Posterior mal mobilized reduced and fixed. Fibular nail to bypass the section that had comminution now and lots of holes. Once nail was in and tip loc “bullseyed” the nail was back slapped and rotated until we were happy. Then the tip loc was engaged. The medial mall was very small and perforated so to “hedge bets” syndesmotic fixation placed although syndesmosis not actually particularly unstable. Dr. Charles Moon treated a 32-year-old female who sustained a trimalleolar fracture after a trip at home. On stress, the syndesmosis did not show disruption. The surgery resulted in a successful repair using the Acumed Fibula Nail 2 for the lateral malleolus and two cannulated screws for the medial malleolus. Dr. Moon utilized the optional Tip-Loc bushing and set screw to provide rotational stability to the fracture. This case highlights the importance of the correct entry point of the opening reamer and positive positioning of the Tip-Loc Clamp before bushing insertion. Thank you for sharing this case, Dr. Moon!

Watch for shortening of the fibula. #3. It's all about the starting point. #4. Get the opening reamer all the way up. Thanks, Dr. Moon, for highlighting these tips for potential users of the Fibula Nail 2.
