Colorectal cancer continues to be one of the leading cancers in the U.S. In fact, according to the CDC, it’s the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. With a colorectal cancer diagnosis, colorectal surgery comes with risk. Evidence indicates that 33% of patients experience serious postoperative complications. This comprehensive literature review confirms that the use of ICG dye in colorectal surgery is a promising tool for both qualitative and quantitative assessment of perfusion. #ActivSurgical #ActivSight #ICG #colorectalcancer #perfusion #LSCI #FGS Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ezBbqz3Y

Great Experience today at the Department of General and Minimally Invasive Surgery of the Ospedale Policlinico di Milano, we tested for the first time in EU in humans, that Active Sight tecnology by Activ Surgical. Really a great technology that incorporate ICG #fluorescence as wella as #laser speckle for die free tissue perfusion evaluation. We used in an case of laparoscopic total colectomy with ileo-rectal anastomosis using the Arthrex Synergy ID Camera Thanks to Matthew McKittrick, Gianluca Moretti, Ludovica Baldari, Elisa Cassinotti and all the OR team at the Ospedale Policlinico di Milano Matteo Stocco, Luigi Amerigo Messina

The FLAG randomized controlled trial demonstrates that indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence angiography significantly decreases colorectal anastomotic leak rates (9.1%) compared to the non-ICG group (16.3%). These results confirm that utilizing ICG and advanced visualization methods can lead to enhanced patient outcomes. And we're just getting started. We're continuing to explore ways advanced visualization can inform surgeons in the operating room, with the goal of reducing surgical complication rates and increasing patients' quality of life. #ActivSurgical #ActivSight #advancedvisualization #FGS #ICG #LSCI The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons ISFGS - International Society for Fluorescence Guided Surgery
