About us

ACH Child and Family Services has been serving North Texas for more than a century with the mission of protecting children and preserving families. And through Our Community, Our Kids, we’re pioneering Community-Based Care in seven counties of the Texas foster care system. Our vision is for families to thrive and children to experience safety, hope and love. Whether your passion is advocacy or providing support to children and families, check out our job offerings at hiremeach.org. We offer competitive benefits and a warm-hearted culture that is rooted in our values of childhood, families, effective services, stewardship, spirituality, advocacy, and learning. At ACH, we depend on every staff member to lead the way and deliver results that often exceed the expectations of our agency, our clients, and our community. The work can be challenging, but knowing you’re truly making life better for abused and neglected children is incredibly rewarding. ACH is a United Way of Tarrant County agency.

  • July Fourth is a fantastic celebration for kids to learn about and enjoy! Here are FOUR ideas to make this Independence Day extra special: 𝟏. 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐲 ✂️ Make flags, stars, or hats using craft materials. Decorating bikes, wagons, or scooters for a neighborhood parade adds to the fun. 𝟐. 𝐆𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 🎊 Check local events for parades, concerts, or fairs happening nearby. Or, for a fun alternative, have a patriotic picnic or barbecue with family and friends. Organize traditional games like sack races, tug-of-war, or a water balloon toss. 𝟑. 𝐄𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬 🍰 Bake cookies with flag designs, or make fruit skewers with strawberries🍓, blueberries 🫐, and marshmallows in patriotic colors. 𝟒. 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 📖 Find age-appropriate books about American history or stories that celebrate the values of freedom and independence. Teach kids about why July Fourth is important. Explain the Declaration of Independence in kid-friendly terms, emphasizing freedom and liberty🗽 #FourthOfJuly #KidsCantWait #IndependenceDay

  • 🍕 Recently, kids in our Wedgwood Transitional Living Program had a blast at a pizza-making night, whipping up some unique and delicious combinations! Thanks to our dedicated ACH volunteers who joined in to foster friendships and make memories. Our Transitional Living Program provides a safe, nurturing home for youth ages 14-17 who can't live with their families or in a community setting. Through home-based therapy and supportive environments, we empower our youth with essential independent living skills so they be reunited with their family, placed with a foster family, or transition to independent living. Curious about making a difference? Consider becoming a volunteer! Together, we can create brighter futures for our youth. • Our Pat O'Neal Youth Emergency Shelter on Wichita Street in Fort Worth is one of many #SafePlace sites in North Texas. Let's keep our kids safe and off the streets.

The Supreme Court has made a decision in the case of Grants Pass v. Johnson, which now makes it against the law to sleep in public places like parks or sidewalks. This means that homeless young people, as well as others without a home, could get in trouble with the police just for trying to find a place to sleep. There are about 4.2 million young people in the U.S. who don't have a stable place to live. Decisions like this show why Safe Place is so important. Safe Place helps young people in crisis by giving them a safe place to go and someone to help. If you are a young person in need of shelter or support, you can find the nearest Safe Place by texting "Safe" to 44357 (4HELP). You can also chat with a mental health professional. National Safe Place Network believes every young person should have access to safe, stable, and affordable housing in the community they choose. We will keep pushing for money and support to make sure there's enough housing and help available in every community across the country. #WeAreSafePlace #JohnsonVGrantsPass

  • ACH believes in the power of family and the strength within every woman. With 1 in 3 women affected by domestic violence in Tarrant County, programs like Families Together are crucial. Together, we provide safe havens and healing spaces for single mothers and their children, helping them rebuild their lives after experiencing homelessness due to intimate partner domestic violence. Let's stand together to break the cycle and empower these families towards independence and stability. #FamiliesTogether #EndDomesticViolence

  • As ACH Community Ambassadors, former ACH Board and Women’s Auxiliary members come together to advocate on behalf of our mission to protect children and preserve families. A few weeks ago, they learned about the programs offered at our office on Jennings Avenue. They toured this conveniently located home of Real Help for Real Life, our free counseling program, and Kinship Navigator, which serves those who are caring for a relative’s child or children. Thank you for wanting to stay abreast of the many services offered by ACH so you can spread the good word!
